I see, may I have a rough quote, LHS 375, RHS 650, astig 125.
Mainly for indoor usage, high level of computer tablet usage.
Also quite prone to headaches.

We should be looking at 1.6-1.67 index lenses. I would say a rough figure of about 450 to 550. Depending on the Brand’s.

Hi there, you can consider getting other Brand’s of progressive lenses not from the usual suspects. It might take about a week to 10 days including weekends.
A few places to consider might be

Jamco@katong shopping center
First eyewear East Coast@upper East Coast road near Siglap Center.

It actually means to have a wider field of view on the lenses.

There are different Tiers of progressive lenses. Thus you can see from the standard to the Individual, the amount of reading zone that is clear varies. The amount of blurriness/Distortion also varies in accordance to your lao hua(reading power/Presbyopia).

1. Is not wearing correct glasses the main cause of digital eye strain?
2. Are there other factors like improper or insufficient lightning.
3. Not using a high refresh rate/high resolution monitor the cause for eye strain? For example, when I changed to a higher refresh rate phone, my eye strain significantly reduced.
4. Or improper diet?

Can an optometrist address this issue from another angle?

"According to a trial published in February 2021 in the American Journal of Ophthalmology, blue light glasses worn during a two-hour computer task did not change eyestrain symptoms whatsoever. And another small study, published January 2019 in Optometry and Vision Science, found that even though a blue-blocking filter used on a computer screen blocked 99 percent of wavelengths between 400 and 500 nanometers, it didn’t alleviate digital eyestrain symptoms any more effectively than a neutral filter."

Ohh this is a tough one. I will try to answer to the best i can.

1) Not exactly the main cause, as the name suggest Digital eye strain meaning using the digital devices for long hours, THOUGH, not wearing your correct prescription, or if you have laohua/presbyopia and you strain your eyes to look at the device will also affect and then causing the digital eye strain.

2)Yes, poor lighting/low light environment will cause your eyes to be more strained as you look at bright-lit devices e.g. using phone in the dark room for long period of time.

3)Hm...not sure about it. Might be subjective, i dont really feel much, maybe because i am already using a better refresh rate device xd

4)Diet.... not exactly linked to digital eye strain. Though having too much unhealthy food will lead to long term issues with your sight too.

Regarding Blue light glasses, as i have been mentioned before, my personal opinion is that there is still insufficient studies being conducted to determine if it leads to worsening eye diseases like ARMD, CATARACT.
I generally recommend blue light block lenses to reduce glare(the ones with a more yellowish Hue)

Would need some pro advice from the professionals aka experts on this thread pls.
1) I need progressive transition lens due to age
2) I have tried a few optical shops but have been mainly using Owndays products (even their Prestige Progressive range with transition). Most of the time, the vision will become blur after 18 months or so. Each pair costs me about 400-600 SGD.
3) Right now, I need another pair as the previous one is giving blur vision again.
4) The progressive transition lens I need is used when I am not sitting in front of a computer or laptop (I have another part of computer lens for that). Most of the time, this pair of progressive transition lens is for my daily routine activities. I don't wear it for sports neither.
5) could someone recommend me some good advice on the lens (brand, details and etc) that can hopefully last me for more than 24 months within a budget of $300 pls. I will probably be re-using my old frame.
6) Also pls advise which shop is good to get the recommended lens (i can travel around SG but i stay in the west).

Next, would you recommend he falls back on wearing his usual myopia specs when doing sports? I know it is kind of funny despite our brain maybe fast to adapt, it is highly discouraged and defeats the purpose of making a progressive lens? I can probably suggest to my friend is to go for good and established brands and opt for a "wider view " for the lens? Thanks.

Any recommendations for prescription shops in the west? I initially was about to go with owndays before I saw the posts recommending against it.

Digital eye strain is a huge concern for me as it contributes to increasing degree in my adulthood.

Am always keen to get a good pair of sunglasses that suits my face but my problem is that i have quite high myopia and astig (myopia prob in the 700 - 800 degrees astig 200 or so).
For those with myopia and do wear sunglasses, what do you usually do? wear contacts and then normal sunglasses? Nt v used to contacts myself...
Anyone of you go for prescription sunglasses? If so do you know if any shops do one for high degree? I asked Rayban before they say they don't have anything for my degree level...

Generally you may consider to go for "after market" prescription with a sunglasses frame eg RB. If you asked RB to do it, it would be very costly and only if they are able to so. Going to RB, main benefit is the logo of RB which is visible on the lens. Unfortunately they are unable to fulfill your request due to high myopia and astig.
As for high myopia, you may consider "after market" prescription lens eg Hoya or Escillor. High myopia will make the lens thicker and it is quite inevitable and perhaps you may feel its weight and it may not be nice if you are using a RB frame as it tends to protrude a bit at the bottom or side? In addition, "after market" prescription lens also has mirror lens which you can choose from. The down side is no RB inscribes to the lens and probably not cheap either. Hope it helps.

Thanks!! It's not necessary for me to go Rayban in fact i may be interested in other shapes and designs. Just wondering what other spectable shops will be able to do this and if there are any good recommendations?

Hi Ecan07, in general most of the optical shops should be able to achieve this. You can randomly drop by optical shop near you to enquire; but do know what you want and what is being offered to you. It seems like you need to buy a new specs and literally "converts" it to a prescribed sunglasses? Based on my experience using a brand new RB frame and prescribed lens, it was around 600+ or more (sorry I couldn't remember).

i am keen to get Zesis Smartlife as recommend by friend and also due to age. However my degree is very high 600-750. I try at few optical shop with different advise. Some don’t have them in 1.74, some have, some say need special equipment to measure for customers but they were not given. This got me really confused. If you can advise me , it be good.

Separately are there other similar products by different brand which lenses are as good n clear as Zesis. I been using Zsesis n my last pair was EnergizeMe. If have what are your recommendations In 1.74.
