I see and understand the situation..
Yes hoya Mystyle series lenses are really good. The price is costlier especially for high index to be honest. But the comfort the adaption and comfort is usually very impressive..
Yes, choosing a smaller frame but still suitable to fit your face would be important.
In the west I would recommend Sunny optics at gombak.. unless you don’t mind travelling further then I have more recommendations.

If you're at Japan, go for Tokai liao. Premium product at much cheaper price point than singapore.

My recommendation is not to make it there even if it is going to be cost saving. As once the lenses/frame is done..touch wood, if need some troubleshooting or not so comfortable.. it is going to be a hassle for replacement..if it’s going to be single vision then no problem!

Thus I would still lean towards doing here at spore.

@GANGSTERKIA boss, my frames are all quite narrow, can i still use them for progressives? i hve a few frame depth about 29mm and i usually wear frame quite high up my nose. Otherwise is it possible for me to tell the optician that i just need to see clearer at about 3metres distance and forego the farther distance so that i can still reuse my frames?

Ht 29mm is pretty good leh, not too narrow. just that if your "laohua" (Presbyopia) is more than +2.00Ds, your intermediate (Computer distance) could be an issue.

If you want to just see clearer at around 3m distance, can opt for Office(Degressive) lenses. Very good for intermediate viewing and large reading zone (Easily 50% more than compared to a pair of progressives)

hi bro, i checked at optical shops liao. hoya mystyle profile 1.67 RRP $1,360, mystyle V+ $1,500. optician recommended zeiss say vision is better, i saw price also alot more, 1.67 superb progressive about $1,500 already and 1.67 individual progressive is almost $2k. end up i just went for mystyle profile. i saw lifestyle 3 and balansis prices not much cheaper, $1,260 and $1,160 respectively, so just go for mystyle profile straighyaway. not sure any diff though.

Actually, buying progressive lenses shouldn't be like this. shouldn't look at brand, then see models, then tikam.
1st step of buying progressive is to go to a progressive expert. Someone who really understands lenses, how these lenses perform for different types of people, face shape, frame, prescription & lifestyle. Then let the expert assist in your selection by analyzing your specific needs.

My view on branded stuff is that its a good to have, if you found a newbie sales person or someone who don't know they stuff. Pretty safe.

I usually like to tweak the curve, prism & inset to get the best for my customers, resulting in lens performance way better than the branded ones but still not as costly. (unfortunately the big 3 cant do what I require as theirs are all pre set, meaning A,b,C with 3 different set of eyes get same setting.

TV, yes and no. Too far cant really see. Walking around no issues as long as you dont need to see far too clearly (cos 3m lens)

Aiya then i should not have made progressive if i dont need so clear distance vision right? Maybe next time i ask to make only 2 zones and see good or not. First time trying progressive so tikam only.

if your work involves alot of near and intermediate, office lenses better la. Perform better and no need 1k

Not boss lol but,
I have my opinions on this.
To me I feel 29mm is quite narrow as you mentioned. Coupled with the fact that you wear your frame higher, meaning your distance/intermediate/near already kinda compacted. Which leads to the possibility of having a smaller zone for distance, and your natural position is at the intermediate zone.(possibly) thus your distance won’t be as sharp.
So I would say a possible solution is to extend the depth of lens as suggested then (abit technical), get your new eye point instead of old one, then it will compensate.
Again, we all have our own solutions to handle!

yup tried but they cant give me what i wan.
Hoya don't have base curve in 0.2 steps
also cant handle high prisms (I frequently need up to 14 per eye in double vision cases)

Bro, do you have a big nose? or is your frame a plastic frame?

If not, then the height of the frame can be adjusted

As mentioned by userptometrist , still can. But I rmb based on our past conversations, you did mention you want all 3 viewing distances.. so I generally would advise against. But if you really want then we just need to pre-empt you.
I would say office lens better…
BUT, there are users outside who depending on circumstances, are totally fine with 29mm if your practitioner can advice and manage the expectation of the customer.. so again back to what optometrist said, see how experience is your practitioner to recommend you.
