For Owndays, need to top up $200 for transition lens. Worth?
Hi. Am badly short sighted around 7.00 and high astig around 1.75. Any recommendations on where to go for suitable lens? Been using owndays but i tend to find myself replacing them every two years. Want to see if I can get something more lasting? I have gone to a few optical shops in the past and so far been more misses than hits. Been wearing specs for close to 40 years but haven’t found anything really suitable. Feel free to pm.
Thank you. Is Hoya full control good? How is it value for money? Any shops to recommend or even your shop? Feel free to PM.-7.00Ds with Astig -1.75Ds not too bad la, average ba.
If you want something that can last long, Then probably look at Hoya Or Tokai. Their coating are pretty lasting![]()

Hi!Hi @Optometrist / @GANGSTERKIA , where would the the best place to do ic berlin + nikon seemax ultimate progressive lens? Roughly would be how much? Hahaha. 1st time progressive lens wearer here.My degree is around 175 for both eyes and laohua that day tested being told was around 100+ Thanks a lot
Personally think HVLL is already good enough
HVLL coat already comes with UV control.
Full control basically just adds a blue coating to reduce glare + Anti-bacterial (Not too sure about the benefits of this layer). Full control is good if your eyes are sensitive to bright screens.
If value for Money, maybe consider Asahi-Lite. They’re coating not as lasting as Hoya/Tokai but is already an upgrade over owndays/ essilor.
Nice. Thanks a lot. Will go there and take a look. But feel like trying nikon lens as hoya and zesis both I try before. Zesis lens very easily scratch but offer very clear visonHi!
My advice is if the first time you are wearing progressive, I personally feel you don’t have to go for such a high tier lenses. A mid range one will do,
E.g. Hoya lifestyle 3, Zeiss Asiana precision plus etc.. as your laohua/presbyopia is not that high too.. it’s much cheaper and cost effective too.
You can look towards Jamco optical. They do carry ICberlin(a lot of variety)

Yes its true. Dont waste money just get mystyle profile. The shop still able to take measurements manually for mystyle profile. Without hoya identifier machine, no point order mystyle v+ pay extra $300.Is it true that some shop can do Hoya Mystyle Profile and not Mystyle V+ due to lack of expensive equipment?
Hi boss, when i get lao hua, is it also possible that my myopia also get affected and increase as well? I cant fathom why my myopia has increased even though it remains constant for almost 30years then when i get laohua my myopia suddenly worsen???
@Optometrist pls help me take a look at my peescription below taken 7yrs ago. What does the VA 6/7.5 for my right eye means as compared to VA 6/6- for my left eye??
VA of 6/7.5 means an alphabet that a normal person can see at 7.5m, you'll need to stand close (6m) to identify it. The - behind it means you can read 4 numbers out of a row of 5 numbers
Sorry boss to keep disturbing you but all these years optometrists have never explained fully. In my case, any possibility that the optometrists in the past have purposely kept my right eye prescription lower than what it should be, maybe to balance out my left eye power?Getting "lao hua" usually wouldn't increase myopia. It is well known that nuclear cataract can cause a myopic shift in some cases. Did your optometrist assess your eyes for any presence of cataract?
Does that mean that even if the optometrist increase my prescription for my right eye i can only see at 6m and will still not be able to see at 7.5m?
Will laohua affect this VA ability over time?
