i haven't seen dun's knock offs so far , similar designs yes, copied closely yes but as a brand.. "dun" isn't making people buy/sell as a name

Well, for them to eat up Visitech, ILT, and Plasticplus, to form KaleidoVision, they better have good management or else. :s13:

:s12: :s12:

Optician told me ILT was old name they keep changing to new name. Call what KV lens. I had one, optician said its under essilor so quite good. Hmm ok lar considering the cost similar to hi top, OSA etc, KV lens is ok. But i realise OSA lens are really bad these days. Wonder OSA comes from where.

Has anyone tried this local brand of specs called Owlet?
Thinking of buying it as a gift for someone. Thanks

Haven't heard of Owlet, but there is Eyelet which is done by Nanyang Optical.

I don't really recommend buying frames as a gift - fitting and comfort is pretty important and choice of glasses tend to be personal decision. So it's really not about whether the frame is good or not. ;)

The single vision normal ones from Korea usually.

The big brands (i.e. heavy marketing and advertising) tend to have lesser variability between the batches, so could be a batch issue over there.

But anyway, lenses can be stored for some time in the right conditions, so they could have multiple batches in their store. Not necessarily you will get the bad batch (if there is one).

The only way to buy a genuine product is to look up the list of authorised sellers.

If buying through a re-seller, you will never know. :)

Then again, sometimes products come out through the back door, are the same as the authentic products, but are not sold through the authorised sellers (due to slight QC issues, factory employee theft by running the machines at night, etc).

I don't think plastic plus usually get problems with their coating within three months. Besides there's a warranty on manufacturing defects for a year
They don't last as well as the more reputable ones but for any cases within three months you must be pretty unlucky

Depends on how the lenses are used... :s13:

Huh plasticplus eaten up by essilor already? Oh.. my impression of local unbranded like plasticplus is bad... coating problems after 3 months. How about hi top? Eaten up or not?

Feeling sort of groggy with my hoya, wonders if my optician put the OC too accurate??? And then becos frame half rim and lenses abt 6mm thick the lens touches my face a little. Hais. Wonders if 1.74 ibdex will be better or not but px almost doubles.

The OC is supposed to be accurate. :s22:

HiTop is a brand by Kwang Meng.

there's a new lab in town who sort of "stamps" colour onto lenses
meaning they can do dark tinted lenses for any index , in theory at least , i'm assuming current raybans are going to do that , sounds cheaper and faster than soaking

you know things in my trade but your level of english is beyond the norm

Walauaye machiam rike how they do mirror coating liaozxzxzx.

Liddat Engerrish more normal? :D

I've seen coach sunglasses with 1 tone lenses before .... spoken to the retailer, he "rubbish! you no exp talk anyhow, i got sources one he's trustworthy" me ....

later he kept quiet and removed the sunglasses after a couple of days ..... and the raybans that came together because i mentioned..... the shape is also a bit funny :s22::s22:

Osa is owned by Essilor
They sell lenses to labs. Not to shops
A lot of the unbranded lenses might be supplied by Osa but if your optician tells you the lens is from osa you should ask them where they ordered the lenses from
