my apology if this question sounds noob as i've never worn glasses, less sunglasses of cos, my entire life.

several years ago there was a shift in my job nature and i have to spend (very) long hours looking at my big screen. and some time last year i found it more and more difficult to read newspaper, mags and even price tags of items in shopping malls. ya signs of old age

i bought a pair of $2 reading glasses from Daiso months ago and it helps. but the problem with these off the shelf glasses are that they looked very uncle or auntie, as in the tiny little glasses or gold frames.

my question is does people "tailor made" reading glasses? i went to ownXXXs recently located inside one of the malls i shall not name. the answer given was an unconvincing "yes" with many pauses, thinking, err and arh in between from their staff. and i was further advised to pick those tiny little girly frames because "most of their reading glasses came in standard small sizes".

i think i might have asked or looked stupid there. but if i were to pick a pair of tiny little girly frames which likely to cost 98 or 198. i might as well pay 2 dollars and get the equally girly thing from Daiso to hang on my nose?

so hyperopia does not require prescription glasses. true or false?

iscription is good. think nid to top up abit to do. i not sure is 200 or 300 or more? needs the shop with the zeiss machine before u can do it.

Hi dlrowehtleah, I stumbled upon your post and I thought there is a need for me to create an account to help answer your question!

Regarding your question if people do "tailor made" reading glasses, the answer is yes. You can take any optical frame and fit it with reading glasses. Reading glasses is just like your single vision glasses, lenses can be crafted for far or near-sighted usage.

As you mentioned that you work long hours in front of the monitor. I do recommend you to opt-in for PC lenses. PC lenses help block blue light from your monitor that is causing strain to your eyes. It's a trend now for office working group people to opt-in for PC lenses. Non-byspectacle people are wearing it now too.

I think you would rather your colleagues praise you for wearing a new stylish eyewear than comment you look like uncle

thanks for taking the trouble to register and answer my post. i felt indebted.

my primary concerns on the glasses are not how fashionable it is but it should at least be presentable. especially so when there is a need to use it in corporate or customer meetings. i can't imagine how horrible a pair of auntie kind of reading glasses hanging on my nose while doing a powerpoint presentation!

i combed through forums, asked a few close friends and even spoke to staff from that optical shop (your 2nd opinion came at the right time). i was under the impression that i'm the only soul that has this wishful thought of prescribing glasses for hyperopia condition.

a while ago i googled your nick and found your company's FB. i understand yours is an online company. as i mentioned in my previous post, i've never worn glasses before. so i would need an optician to examine my condition. nevertheless, i've bookmarked your FB for my future needs.

i hope you would not mind me asking another question here with regards to the PC lenses you mentioned earlier. we all know people with farsightedness, ahem ... that's me, do *not* wear their glasses 24/7. E.g i don't need the $2 Daiso glasses when i'm typing this post as i can adjust the font sizes or sit slightly away from the screen. so it doesn't made much sense to have PC lenses in a pair of glasses for farsightedness. if i'm still intrigue by this feature, are there PC lenses in the market but for people with normal eyesight. i.e. no focus adjustment and yet serve the function of blocking blue light.

Yes, you definitely need to visit an optician to get your eye exam. Do remember to ask for your prescription card so you can easily buy anywhere or online next time.

Yesterday I passby the OWNDAYS shop and see their flyer a Progressive lens only $198 with 1.60-1.67 high index Seiko Lens. They said take two weeks to make.

Anyone try is good? Could it be one of those made in JB type???

As for the progressive and transition lens 1.60-1.67 need to send back japan with the frame to make,7-14 days according to the salesperson i talked to. Just bought a marcus raw frame without prescriptions from owndays NEX.

Eh, recently (aka last week) did a pair of specs in Bishan, $250. 1.67 lens, astig about 350 and degree about 650. was pretty fast, collected on the 4th day. The frame itself is about 100 liaos, so i counted it pretty cheap.

But hor, the cute optictian told me I got starting carteracts, need to get sunglasses. I'm thinking of getting a nice frame outside and getting prescription lenses from her. Anyone got reccomandtions for website or places to buy wayfarers?
