guys I need some advice here.

Recently went spectacle hut do new spectacle, 3 years no change liao so the person there help me do a eye check to double confirm my eye degree. Told me my eyes degree actually drop by 50 and I shouldn't be wearing my current spectacle as I don't require such high degree.

Listen to her and made purchase, spec send for work. Collected it a few days later and when I try it on, realized for far objects or wordings, totally cannot make out the words. Seems very blurry to me.

This kind of case how? Can go back and ask them to change the lenses degree? But the thing is during the eye check up, when she put on different lenses degree, I already made a choice and say okay. Although some letters abit blurry, she say don't need such sharp lenses as it will irritate and stress the eye in the long run. As a professional, of cos I listen to her advice and go ahead with the lower degree lenses.

But try already dk why so blurry. How such cases? Some more I do crizal lenses so quite expensive.

Went to Kwong Shin Pte Ltd at Bras Basah Complex to order prescribed lens for my old spectacle frame on 1 Aug 2015. Was told to come back for collection on 6 Aug 2015.

Drove to collect on 6 Aug 15 after work, ERP cost about $10. Upon reaching, Kwong Shin informed that spectacle not ready yet as they need to re-do the new len due to crack. So left without anything. Called again few days later and was told still not ready.

Till today (20 Aug 2015), called them and was told ready for collection. And again went after work, paid ERP ($10) again. Reached there and they passed me the spectacle. Upon checking the lens, I noticed an obvious line on the len. Told the saleslady about it and she said this is normal and will be easily wiped off. She tried to wipe away the line several times but was not successful. Finally she agreed that the line is indeed a crack. The saleslady apologized and wanted me to come again (3rd trip) for collection.

Basically, I do not feel comfortable and satisfy with the services from Kwong Shin. During my first collection trip, they already acknowledged the crack on the len. And I'm not sure did they change or inspect the len before informing me to make a 2nd trip there.

I ordered the Crizal Lens at $680 from them and I do not expect lens with crack to be delivered. Not sure how many more days I need to wait before receiving a flawless spectacle. This is the longest wait for a prescribed spectacle I have ever experienced.

Despite some good feedback I read about Kwong Shin earlier, I believe my negative experience with them will not encourage me to buy from them again.

If you really feel it's really blur, go back and ask nicely if they could revert back to your old degree. This kind of case is very common that is why she ask you to choose. You feel that the wordings are blur is because you are too used to your old degree.

Actually, 50 degree difference not much of an impact. Normal day-to-day activities you don't need to see objects that are so far, right?

I will suggest u wear it for a week to see for normal activities, are the vision ok. Our eyes and brain need time to forget the past.

I have been their regular customer since 1988. Purchased countless number of spectacle from Kwong Shin. Their service has always been excellent. Bosses and their staff are helpful. All of us are not perfect, we made mistakes at times. Speak with the bosses and see how this issue can be best resolved.

I have paid already in full and was just wondering what can I do?

I thought of getting them to fit the lens into a smaller frame but realize this isn't possible.

You should be able to use the lens to fit into a smaller frame as long as the lens is bigger than the frame you want to fit in. Likely need to add cost to send the lens to lab for cutting smaller to fit your smaller frame.

Choose frame liao bo bian. Sometime power too high. Thick lens can look nice if done nicely

I hadn't chose it myself though. I specifically mentioned to the shop asisstant that I wanted a smaller frame but she said that other customers of hers with similar high degree to mine had used a similar frame and it didn't turn out thick so I went along with her suggestion.

I guess you already choosen the thinnest lens. Maybe if change smaller frame a bit also not big thickness difference.

I still don't know what you are unhappy about or talking about..we are like chicken and duck talking to each other
its impossible that you didn't see/try/touch the spectacle frame before paying
there is little relation of lens thickness to frame unless your frame can fit uncut lens then it is really thick

if you're unhappy about the lens being thicker than the frame then its the shop assistant and their workshop problem.

most of the time those people don't really know their stuff,speak and clarify to the boss next time

last time I bought my frame online(it came with a lens cutting template)and brought it to this neighborhood shop to do the lens,I specially ask them whether they need the template or not. the shop assistant said "don't need, our workshop machine can set the option to cut the wanted lens shape"

so I thought their workshop is very high tech but who knows when I got back the end product,they just use the dummy lens on the spectacle to cut the prescribed lens

hi, you went to the wrong shop and likely used the wrong lens as well... if you really need to do something abt your specs, maybe let me know and i try to ask my optician to see if he can help u or not...

advise you dont go back to them anymore, look for a better optician, preferable those in private practise, not chain store or those that employ many staff. Insist the boss to serve you. If not just declione their service.
