^ If you focus on the make/material quality and workmanship, size and fit, you can look beyond brands. I have frames from S$100 - $1600, and the latest ones I saw at Uniqlo are S$20, very nicely done. Why not? :)

I had a bad experience many years ago with Tag Heuer frame. It was not comfortable at all. I was initially skeptical about purchasing a new Tag frame. However, wearing it for a month, I realised that the new frame fit me very well and very comfortable and light after some adjustment.

Looking at my current pair of Tag - workmanship is acceptable. Again, it depends on individual. What is Ok to me may be considered as shoddy to others.:)

does tat mean i'll just have to accept the flaws of the branded frames & goods that i buy? sometimes i dont even noe how the flaws came about, whether it is the manufacturer's fault, the optical people or the way of handling, it goes thru so many places.

actually, for so many years, i cant really find frames tat is truly comfortable. Comfortable or not, just have to wear it & don think abt it cos the more i think abt it, seems like the worse it can get. Just like if u don really look closely at yur tag frame, it seems alright but take a second closer look & u'll start to find flaws with it which disgusts u.

Do you actually mean to say that if we focus on the brand & we can practically throw all other factors like quality & workmanship out of the window, including our $.

there is 1.76 also.

So the thinnest grade of hi-index plastic lens is now 1.76?
With my degree of myopia at about 800+ whats the average price I should be paying? Don't want to be over-paying. Thanks

Which part of my statement makes you interpret in this opposite way?

Friend, there is no such frame as the best brand/make. My best frame is not the most expensive and not most branded.

I bet you don't even know your size. Frame size, I mean.

They do come with a card. Another way to check if your lens is from crizal is to blow on the lens. You should see the word crizal on it tho not all there lenses will have the word.

I believe they range from $300 up depending on brand and type. Besides getting the thinnest lens, frame selection is also very important. No point getting a big frame and then use the thinnest lens.

Maybe my expectation differs greatly from you. Regardless whether I examine closely or from far, I do not see any poor workmanship.

Bottom-line - buy what you are willing and able to pay for and what is comfortable.

No la u still have to feel comfortable and feel good wearing it, and also can afford it. Dun chase after something which you find hard to afford, or something which you just listen to ppl say good then u just buy it even though u dun feel that "good" as per what other ppl say. As long as you can find a pair of frames which u think u will feel good in, and u can accept paying that price for it, it is fine.

For me i generally have 2 pairs of specs. Before making my current and very recent branded specs, I was wearing army specs (less than 100bucks) for work for about 3 years. Decided recently to make a new pair of specs for myself after my colleagues say i look TOOT in the army specs. Looks more professional also with my new pair of specs. As for the army specs, well they will be relegated to when i go back every year to chiong sua (reservist). Cant be wearing my few hundred bucks worth of specs to army, even though I see other ppl doing it. I am still not in their league yet :s13:

SO you see, the main point I want to make is you are yourself. You can seek advice from all the ppl here but ultimately you shd feel good yourself with the price and brand and design and whatever other factors for that pair of specs that you want to make.

Good luck in your spec hunting process!

@ Seannie,

Agree with you that the tag heuer quality is far from perfect. The workmanship is really poor.
If I look closer at my frame, looks like they not properly paste the rubber to the titanium. Hence, I will see a lot of gap. My frame is tag spring rubber, btw. Hopefully, it feel comfortable to use. Nice fitting and the temple really flexible.

That's why right now I would like to try oakley transistor or thirteen frame. But, when I try in the shop, the temple feel to tight. Not feel comfortable at all.
