Guys..i have juz gotten the Oakley Dictate 2.0 from a neighbourhood store.
The sales asst was telling me oakley frames' prices are fixed and thus she cant give me a discount. She gave me the lens for free though.
Bought it for $453 including high index 1.6 mutlicoat with UV. (Degree is ard 2.25 + 0.25 astig both eyes).
Did i got ripped off?

i reckon queensway mnight be cheaper. but then...not worth the petrol and time to travel down la. later go down..not cheap, also lppl.

plus some store in queensway..only used that small comp to check your degree. they wont bring u into those room where u will wear a specs and they swop lenses to find the perfect one for u.

lol. Get the wiretap model then. But i'm not sure if it's still the cheapest RX frame now. In the past it had the 'honor' of being one of the most popular oakley models in SG. Whether it was cos of the price.. or truly nice, it's hard to say :s13:

But almost everyone i've seen with the wiretaps didn't look good in it so.. go figure.

Honestly, no point getting an oakley just to own one. If it doesn't look good on you, what's the point man?

Wiretaps are great especially if you're doing sports or whatever, the grip is really there. Currently the wiretap is EOL.

hi i was quoted by a shop - oakley sockets 2.0

with frame & lens for degrees 800/575 $450
and polarised lens & frame same degree $700

any bros out here got btr lobang?

Har so expensive ah? IIRC my Socket 2.0 only $350ish for the frame and lens. The frame itself is pretty much fixed in Singapore by the dealer (Larkin). My usual haunt for Oakleys is at Western Vision at Queensway Shopping Centre. The people are quite friendly and honest thats why I bought from them.

my budget is around 100 and hope to get a plastic frame.

I had a corneal infection recently and therefore not wearing contacts for the time being. and my current specs are kinda :s22:

bros - if let's say you bought the frame from overseas, like tag heuer you went to mail order only the frame, where is a cheap or reasonably-priced place to make the lenses ?

any recommendations ? I don't want to be ripped off.

what is the price like if make-lens-only for refractive index 1.67 lens ?

cheap lens go to neighbourhood or small shops. best is go to the stores and check prices. I normally get frames from big chain stores coz they have more up to date choices then go to anchorpoint to get my lens made. I save nearly $100 on my lens this way

If I remember right plastic 1.67 cost around $120, glass 1.7 was $80. My short-sightedness is pretty bad so I opted for glass 1.8 hi-index for around $180. Name of the shop is Champ something or something Champ, sorry forgot, but its in the basement near Watsons.

I bought juliet from eric, so cheaper than shop.

the lens I don't use Oakley lens cos it will be too expensive, I use other lens. Cost 380 for the lens because my prescription is high.

guys - where to find opticial / optical tools ?
I'm looking for pliers that have cushion or pads to prevent scratches.
i wanted to adjust the nose pad arm of my specs myself.

i asked the optical shop but they say they can't disclose where to buy.
thanks!

hmm.by Eric, you referring to this user & thread http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showthread.php?t=2316398&highlight=oakley ?

wah! mind sharing ur degree & type of lenses? cuz my degree is about 500 per eye.so can use urs as a rough gauge of how much mine would cost...

yep that eric.

ur degree 500 got astigmatism? mine is about 440 degree with 325 cylinder. the other eye is lower. cos of my astigmatism, I have to get thinner lens at 380, otherwise it is 280 only.

the lens just normal black lens without mirror. if you want mirror coating, will be around 500-600
