Can try Tag Heuer, Swiss Flex, Ic! Berlin

Thanks would add it to my consideration... actually i'm looking for a full frame one and not those with grip that wraps around the head... and at the same time lightweight (something that won't add too much pressure on my nose... my degree is around 600).

My List of comfortable wear:
- Ic! Berlin
- Staffan Preutz Design
- Charmant
- anymore?

just got myself a pair of mikli starck eyes + zeiss lens...something different from my usual tag heuer which i changed every 2 years.

went to quite a number of shops to check out the models and prices. ...stocks are limited and prices vary from 600 to 900..

discount seems to be rather stingy 10 - 20% for frames and barely minimal for the lens..*damn*

next few brands that i would like to my eye wears collection:
1. porsche design
2. ic! berlin / mykita / gotti
3. oliver peoples

Thanks evets. Will drop by later have a look.

it seems tat certain places are now much willing to give discount on tag frames!

this mean that i dont have to rush to make a decision to make another tag just to enjoy the discount savings. :D

branded specs

hey ppl,

just wondering I saw some prada spec frames in one of the neighbourhood shops near my house and i saw the "Made in Italy" fineprint on the specs. So can i safely assume those frames are really made in Italy and not China? Cos recently got ppl tok about the branded spec frames assembled in China stuff recently in this thread, and this will affect my decision really to get such branded frames or simply look for other frames.

It is about whether you are willing to pay the price for a frame. Just like brands like LV and BV, some are just not willing to pay thousands of dollars for a bag or close to 1K for a wallet.

Bottom line: Buy something that is within your budget. If you are only willing to pay $150 - 200 for a frame, do not consider the high-end brands.

i suppose high-end brands like LV that make bags & wallets will have some kind of quality-control in the products they churn out, but im not so sure about spectacles, im just afaid that im paying a high price just for the logo but not for the way that they made of, eg materials & workmanship etc. I have seen latest tagheuer & oakley frames where the workmanship looks bad, almost seems to be same as those off-brands. Im willing wholeheartedly to pay for quality brands when they are really quality products made in quality way.

E? Act oak got heavy frame models as well as v v light frame models. I tried on their transistor model and compare with other titanium no brand model. Really is much lighter.

But of cos, if u think carefully, what things that you buy do you think is really really worth the price tag? :D all companies also wanna make profit with big price tag.

But how many actually have the reputation n trustworthiness to do it n still survive?

ya, i dont think muc of the tings that we buy are really worth the price. The cost price of a spectacle frame is actually v cheap but distributors & retailers can mark them up at least a few times the actual cost so they can make quite a hefty profit.

Some of the brands can survive most likely becos majority of ple are still willing to pay for the design & style.

Much lighter is becos they use much less materials to make mah, its so thin. If you hold a thick & bulky titanium frame, it will still feel heavy.

I recently brought a pair of Crizal 1.60 Advanced Lens. My estimated corrections are -5.25, -1.25, X180 Left. -5.25, -1.50, X180 Right.

When I return home, I sort of 'tested' the lenses. Here's my feedback.

1. Water repelling function
Yes, indeed they do repel water when I place the lenses under running tap water. HOWEVER, I compared this set of lenses to the typical multi coated lenses. It too repel water. Seriously even the typical multi coated lenses DO repel water. And take note, while I did mentioned that it repels water, there are still some water droplets on both the Crizal lenses and the typical multi coated lenses.

2.1. Fingerprints resistance
Note: It is NOT fingerprints resistance. Yes, it reduces the amount of fingerprints but the fingerprints are still VERY MUCH VISIBLE to the eyes. In some way, it is quite disturbing when wearing them.
2.2. Smudge resistance
Hey hey, watch out here. Smudges are VERY VERY visible when you well dirtied it. You still have to keep your micro fibre cloth handy.

3. Anti Static Properties
Erm... I don't live in a dusty environment so it is hard to test it out.

4. Anti Scratch properties
My old pair of non-crizal lenses have anti scratch coating on them and it has yet to be scratched. So yes, cheap 1.57 index multi coated lenses works well! Of course, the crizal lenses do not have any scratches on them(Not surprising, I wore them only for less than 3 hrs but I definitely would not purposely scratch the lenses to proof their scratch resistance).

5. Anti reflective coating
Nothing too special about Crizal's AR coating. Compared to a pair of typical non-branded lenses, they are the same.

All in all, I find that Crizal Advanced lenses are not worth the expensive cost, ($160) and pretty much regretted purchasing them. Compared to the typical multi coated plastic lenses sold at neighborhood shops or even shopping malls, you mind as well purchase those ($60). There is a difference between Crizal's commercial and the real Crizal lenses when you try them on.

My 2 cents for those who are interested in the Crizal lenses.
