I have one, it's really good for that price honestly. I mean it's like $140 SGD, in Singapore at most you buy one pair of lens.

Bridge Fitting
* A person's nose supports most of the weight of their spectacles.
- The nose pads rest on the nose and provide pressure on the nose (the first point of the fitting triangle)
- The nose pads must be positioned to ensure the frame fits the person well
* Plastic frames do not have adjustable nosepads so these frames will need to be chosen very carefully
- A plastic frame will only fit the noses of some people, not everyone
- It is very difficult to find a plastic frame that will fit a person who has a wide & flat nose bridge. These people usually need to wear metal frames.

* Metal frames usually have nose pads on adjustable pad arms. These nosepads must be of the correct:-
- distance between the nose pads
- frontal angle
- splay angle

Frontal angle
- The angle the nosepads make when viewed from the front
- Nosepads should follow the shape of a person's nose. They should be closer together at the top & further apart at the bottom
- A person who has a nose that is very wide or very flat at the bridge will need a larger fontal angle than a person with a narrower nose

Splay angle
- Angle that the nosepads make when viewed from the top
- The nosepads should be closer together at the front & further apart at the back
- A person who has a nose that is very wide or very flat at the bridge will need a larger splay angle than a person with a narrower nose

Temple width
- The sides of the temples should not touch the sides of the person's head - except at the ears

Side bow
- The ends of the temples must be bent inwards slightly. This is to create pressure at the ears (two points of the fitting triangle) and keep the spectacles firmly positioned on the person's head.
- To adjust the side bow, use your hand to put gentle pressure along the temple length until you get the shape you want.

Length to temple bend
- The length to the temple bend is the distance between the frame front and the place where the temple starts to bend down around the ears
- The bend should start 2mm behind the place where the ear joins the head. This lets the frame move slightly and makes it more comfortable.
- If the bend starts in front of the ear or more than 2mm behind the ear, the spectacles will slide forwards. The person will need to keep pushing them back onto their face with their fingers

Temple bend
- The bend on the temple tip should be a sharp bend, not a gradually curving round bend.
- The bent part of the temple tip should follow the shape of the back of the ear(where the ear joins the head) for at least half its length
- Once the temple has been bent at the correct angle downwards, it then needs to be bent at the correct angle inwards or outwards

Dear all, (WOT)

do not buy any spectacles frames or do lens & spectacles in this shop.

Optical Choice

I bought a pair of branded (burberry) spec over their side, together with the lens, I told them I'll be wearing a myopic contact lens and the lens on the frame will only have Astigmatism. I asked the lady who served me whether I need to do re-test with my contact lens to get the correct Astigmatism degree. She replied immediately, "no need" just need to get the same as my old spec astigmatism degree will do.

Okay, I trust them. Then when the frame with lens comes back, I wore my contact lens but the frame does not suit me. Not only that, the Astigmatism on my spec lens is too high, making me giddy.

I told the lady about this and she said she cannot change the lens as she is just obliging to what my previous spectacle frame has.

After making a few trips down to change, I finally at end of my wits. I threaten to report them to CASE and they finally agree to change my spectacle, brand and lens WITHOUT CHARGES

Okay, I changed the spectacle frame to another brand (Prada). The story didn't end here. The lady who served me, insisted on charging me as the spec is more expensive than what I had.

Never mind, knowing it is branded, I pay for the extras ($80 more, totalling up $480 without the lens as it'll be more expensive, they charge)

After purchase,

And I went over to other optical shops to ask for the price of my new spectacle frame.

To my surprise, other shops are selling $100 cheaper than OPTICAL CHOICE

Conclusion, I will never step onto that wrecked, mercenary, money sucking shop ever again.

Customer service: 1/5 (Initially very nice, but always talk bad about other nearby optical shops, 1 point cause they have to serve me if not I'll make noise)
Value for money: 0/5 (overprice, overcharge, everything also UP UP UP)
Score: 0/5 (Even the ones at franchise chains can do better than them)

Sin Chew's service is good. Definitely meticulous in eye screening. If you don't stay around the area, maybe it won't be worth the extra effort to go all the way there.

As for IC Berlin, they are great. Quality engineering and real attention to detail.

Boss, you went to Sin Chew at Thomas Plaza?

How is the service, were they meticulous in the eye screening?

Any thoughts or review on the service & product?

P/S: Swag specs.

Yup.

The service is quite good, the salesgirl show me plenty of frame and give me comment every time i change the frame. Also they clean the frame everytime u give them back.

They text me once the spec is ready instead of waiting for me to go down or call to check status.

overall quite good and certainly better than Northern Optical.

Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster here.

Just wanted to check with you knowledgeable people. I bought a pair of Tag Heuer Reflex frames and Zeiss Photofusion 1.6 a couple of days ago for $900. Was that a good price? I thought it was alright, but it'd be nice to have a second or third opinion!

Thanks in advance!

Any idea if Sin Chew stocks Oakley frames?

Pricewise definitely should be able to find cheaper options. However, if you like their service and attitude, shouldnt be too high a price ;) After all, its a Tag Heuer... I know of people who travel from West to Central just to have their glasses made at a particular outlet.

Were any of you deciding between Sin Chew at Thomson Plaza & Evershine at TPY? Both are pretty active in the forums.
