But I thought every lens is kinda "customized", or does Rx only means lens customized for high astigmatism?

Custoused lenses so ex so how can all lenses are customised? Factory labs will keep stock lenses up till a certain prescription so what most guys getting heee are stock lenses. For yours & mine are customised becos need to wait at least 5 working days. The shop needs to place order for the lens from regional factories in asia. For hoya, some batches are from thailand HQ some from msia etc. Then the big uncut lenses will be shipped to sg lab for cutting to ur frame shape before mounting. Ordering smetimes take longer becos regional factories do not have ur prescription, maybe need to get from japan etc. So the cost much higher than stock lenses.

You mean is it something like swimming goggles with degrees? But those swimming googles have powers that jump in 0.5 increments, that's why the sports store can maintain decent quantity of stocks for each degree. On the other hand, for spectacles, with so many possible degrees being ordered, how much stock does the optical shop need to maintain?

...For yours & mine are customised becos need to wait at least 5 working days...

I was having the impression that mine needs extra time (dunno due to ordering in, or some other process) due to my higher astigmatism value.

...For hoya, some batches are from thailand HQ some from msia etc...

Do all Hoya lenses have that 'H'-like symbol on the lenses be it premium, or basic grades?

...So the cost much higher than stock lenses.

Let's hope I didn't kena chop-carrot.

Btw, what are the opticians measuring when they put a pen at their nose & ask us to focus on that pen tip?

Look at the coating. If u dunno how, post pic of your lens against the reflection of light & let us see.

I was wondering, if the customer opted for those BlueControl (Hoya), SeeCoat Blue (Nikon), etc., perhaps even if they are using SFT coating (for example), with a layer of bluecontrol on top, the visual appearance may be deceiving?

I wonder what colour the HvLL-coated lenses will possess...

here are the pictures...

Woah...that's a rich creamy colour...

Swimming googles are different, all you saw are already ready-made. Its the factory that stocks spectacles lenses, not the optical shop. So factories also cater up to a certain degree. For high power (eg astig above a certain degree) where seldom people will buy, they do not keep stocks. Usually stock lenses are for those lower, thus more common prescriptions.

Hoya lenses should have the "H" unless being cut away during edging. The pen is to measure your optical focus so that will know where is your exact line of sight so that you can see clearer. Visual appearance can be deceiving, so you need expereience to be able to tell & differentiate.

Pardon my lack of knowledge in this area, but does it mean factories stock lenses for powers like -1.75, -1.74, -1.76...in all those very minute increments? That sounds like a lot of lenses to keep stock...

...The pen is to measure your optical focus so that will know where is your exact line of sight so that you can see clearer...

Does it matter, when the measurement's taken, that though the tip of the pen is in the centre of my field of vision horizontally, but the tip is slightly high up vertically?

...Visual appearance can be deceiving, so you need expereience to be able to tell & differentiate.

May I know what you are referring to?

yes, confirmed hoya lens. Where you made them?

What specific coating gives that rich creamy colour?

Btw, progressive lens are for people with lao hua right? Typically, young folks with short-sightedness shouldn't be getting progressive lenses right? Asking cos was reading up & saw a few sites saying free-form = progressive lenses but went to check up the definition of progressive lenses sounds like something those old folks uses, & I thought Nulux EP is a free-form lens, so am quite confused...

In addition, I googled for 'Rx lenses', most search results just defines it as prescription lens...nothing special.

Hi, selling a pair of rare vintage Cutler and Gross (Silver 0328) in good condition

Link : (cutlerandgross.com/shop/Vintage/0328-Silver/)

  • Hand-made in England. Rare vintage set which had the flexible metal coiled ear hooks which the current model doesn't have.
  • Good for outdoor activities such as surfing, hiking and fishing as the hooks prevents the sunglasses from falling off.
  • This frame was inspired by standard issue prescription eyewear for the Metropolitan Police in the 1970s, with cable temples that curled around the ear for extra security.

Drop me a text @ 90065191 for a quick deal. :)
