bro, lots of people doing business like that, unethical, u just got to be ultra careful the nextime round and dont be conned and fooled again! For those chain stores u cant expect execptional service and expect to pay cheap prices.

Really unlucky to even walk in this shop in the first place and what's worse is they demand those that's working in the shop to not pick up any calls from us. I did not know business is done like this, when you hang up a customers call whom is still talking politely to you, yet you shouted and hang up, and the next thing, dare not pick up any calls in the whole shop that entire day. But anyway thanks!! Gonna make a new specs soon with other more reputable shops

Anyone tried OWNDAY's AIR Ultem?
Looks pretty cool because it's flexible and only weighs 9.4grams!

Guys, was wondering if you could help me

anyone made specs here before

OWNDAYS - OPTICAL SHOP

What if I like the frame but want a lens with transition lens and high index anti scratch effect

My new balance specs lost one of its rubber parts covering the screw on the lens so its kinda catching on every towel or cloth i use to wipe it.

Need to change polycarb lens: Chromatic aberration/glare

Hi,

I recently made a new pair of specs with polycarbonate lens but the chromatic aberration in my peripheral vision is bothering me quite a lot. Also, this lens seems to make everything more glaring. Even colors, especially reds appear to be more saturated than usual. I would like to know if these problems can be solved by changing the lens alone.

Background:
The frame which I chose is a very thin metal one which I believe is called ... I can't remember ... a "rim on" frame - where the frame is just a thin sheet that bites into the sides of the lens. As I understand, this type of frame requires the lens to be made of impact-resistant material, e.g. polycarbonate. Since the sides of the lens are polished and exposed (not wrapped by the frame) - is this one of the reasons why things seem to be brighter (more area to capture light), or is it because of the lens material? My eyes are 325 on both sides.

Now, the above problems are really bothering me too much (chromatic abberation, too bright, reds look saturated), and I wonder if just changing the lens would solve/mitigate these 3 problems. Does anyone know if changing to a Trivex lens would help? Or does anyone know of alternatives (less chromatic aberration, less "reflectance"/glare, more neutral coluors). From what I read online, what I need to go for is a Abbe value to reduce the chromatic aberration, and as for the glare, AR lens (is that a gimmick?).

Where in Singapore is a good place to make lens?

Hi Seannie,

You mean to ask for coating to reduce the glare? I had thought the glare was a result of the material somehow bouncing off more light within the lens.

Avoid Tokyo megane esp the outlet at white sands pasir ris. With An old uncle name steven. Their service seems good which is why I purchase the first place, but afterwhich when there's some problem with it or when you need some after service like calling and ask more about it, they just hang up your call and throw words at you. True colors all shown. To him, customers dont have the right to speak, only he does all the speaking. Even the optician isnt professional at all. Shock

I think they have just take over from the previous owner, i have done a few spectacle with the previous owner and i was there a few weeks back, hoping to make another new spectacle, an old lady approach me.....i look see around.....she look at me.....nothings steam up...i walk off...hehe

wondering where the previous owner moved to...?

making a pair of spectacles is getting more & more & very expensive nowadays, if you want to have a pair of decent frame & lenses can easily cost over 1k. My advice to you is to make a good pair now before prices hit even higher till it became unaffordable. Or look for alternative solutions. My current pair that have lasted a year cost close to 1k and my optician told me that lens prices are being revised higher, quite a fair bit i think about 30% for my lens category. Gd luck.
