Let me share an interesting story: What if I tell you high end watches are also 'hot items' for money laundering/bribery/smuggling money across boarders?

These watches do not cater to common working folks. They cater to another category of people that the real police should be after.

Yes, I believe it's not a good idea to troll so much here as I believe there are grey dealers here advertising their watches here to attract customers. And the saying goes 'When money is involve, shXt will hit the fan'

Lastly, anyone can claim anything without proof online. AFAIK 904 steel is about 3X more expensive than 314 steel so it doesn't make financial sense to make reps out of them. But with advanced technology in China and their steelmills churning out steel with so much inventory like no tomorrow I maybe wrong...

This is the most interesting thread to me other than the leather thread in HWZ so I hope this thread stays as long as possible :)

Have a great day ahead everyone!

interesting insight. :)

the replicas i mentioned quoted a price in excess of usd1200+, so they can definitely cover their cost and make a profit, but again, it doesn't makes sense to even consider such a fake as it can never hold its value unlike the genuine watch. posers with a poser mentality buy a fake rolex to show off. not to be a snob, but if a person can't afford one, don't flaunt. cos they won't be able to sustain it in the long run and other areas of their lives will be revealed to be a fraud as well. i really wish i have the means to splash 10k+ or whatever cash on any watch i like - but i just can't. just have to satisfy within my means.

do elaborate! :D

fakes are one way criminal gangs generate their revenue. buying fakes means one is supporting crooks.

Yes thats right. Below 40 for sure. I've always liked the daydate. Had one for a short stint. somehow just feel the full gold "president" is THE signature model of rolex. Or i'm stuck in the 80s.

agreed. :D wearing a full gold rolex day-date makes you feel like the bossman.

now that a 40mm model is avail (upsized from traditional sized 36mm), there's no excuse for you not to get one. ;)

Finally collected my watch from popstation today.

Went to size it and found the watch surprisingly heavy for a dress watch.
Watch diameter is about 41mm.
Watch head feels solid, bracelet has solid end links as well.
See through caseback.

基本上,精工的自动机械机芯,如果上满链,一般上的续航能力可以到36小时,一天半那么就。
但是机芯有别,如果你的是7Sxx(25,26,35,36),是没有得手动上簧。那么也就容易不能达到标准续航能力。
如果你的是4Rxx(35,36,37,38),你是可以通过搅动錶冠上簧的。。。那么也就不必担心是否会停的。

i suspect the watch mainspring has problems storing/releasing the energy.

But I believe they r not a good friend, coz they got asking contact number on the previous post.

To me I strongly believe little suan is for fun, over suan become fighting and also no health for us who are reading the post.

you'd never know... maybe bromance developing... :s11:

sometimes, no fight, no become friend. :D

Yalor i also duno why he keep doing that to me only. But i know u are my good fren. Wanna ask u a watch question now cos nobody replied. For my watch how often is it recommended to send in for servicing / maintenance? I vaguely remembered the shop staff told me only need send in for servicing after many years, can last 8yrs. Is that so?

all mechanical watches face wear & tear, so they eventually need to be serviced, stripped, cleaned, re-assembled, re-oiled, re-adjusted & pressure-tested (for diving watches).

the traditional service interval quoted is 5 years. however, some owners never service them for years or even decades and claim they run well. while modern synthetic lubricants now last longer and dry off slower compared to lubricants in the past. not servicing a watch for many years run the risk of components grinding each other down until they become beyond repair.

some like omega's co-axial escapement claim to last longer in between service intervals so they recommend 8 years.

servicing is an issue for luxury watches costing thousands. i'd sooner replace my cheaper seiko monster with a brand new one than waste time & money repairing it.

Nah. I know too much about reps. To learn about them.
I think 1.2k is all Franken.
A good rep don't cost more than 600usd.
