i used to be a fan of the omega speedmaster professional moonwatch. i'd still recommend that iconic watch over the omega speedmaster racing, which uses an automatic movement - simply because of the moonwatch's widespread popularity and tradeability. if you're not averse, try getting one pre-owned with box & papers if possible, as the first owner has already absorbed the initial depreciation.

do note that it's a manual winding watch with no hackable/stop seconds and poor water resistance. if you can live with that, and you love its iconic status/design, go for it.

if you want to go hardcore, save up for either the new daytona panda with ceramic bezel or zenith el-primero 36,000vph hi-beat chronograph. you won't go wrong with either, though the daytona holds its value a bit better.

guess that depends on your budget or brands that you like.

As you said you singaporean, singaporean always like branding..

Seiko is affordable to start with..

Then you have to decide you want mechanical or quartz..

without talent, skill, guidance/tips from experts (from books, online or in-person), shooting more merely produce the same results. as albert einstein said: "insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results".

that's where discipline and delayed gratification comes in.

current estimated price of a daytona ceramic bezel = $22,000

assuming:
1. you earn a median salary of $3,500/mth.
2. your annual bonus + 13th month AWS = 3 months salary.

after 20% cpf, your bonus+13th month = 0.8 x ($3,500 x 3) = $8,400
you put aside your bonus+13 month for 2 years = 2 x $8,400 = $16,800

balance you need to save = $22,000 - $16,800 = $5,200

you save $10/day for 1.5 yrs = $10 x 1.5 x 365 = $5,475

you can own a daytona ceramic bezel in 2 years, no problem.

why waste money on anything else when your grail is achievable in 2 yrs?

if you're young and/or like to project a sporty/rugged image, a black dial watch is suitable.

imo, leather strap is unsuitable in our horridly hot humid climate, unless you're cacooned in aircon comfort from car to office all the way. stainless steel bracelet is a more practical choice.

a black dial diving watch like the rolex submariner is perfect as it wears well in both a suit or in shorts. if you're not prepare to pay the premium, you can consider the various homage offerings from steinhart ocean one, davosa ternos diver, tisell, squale, etc. its robust water resistance means you can swim or shower with it on your wrist. raining? it's built to dive.

if you're still keen on a leather strap, i can suggest a sterile dial pilot watch like this:

Currently price plus 2 yrs of price increase maybe 26k. Save like 30k just to be safe bet. Rolex price increase once at times twice a year iirc.
Save 22k and prices went up, suck thumb lol

Anyway if don't give parents, cut down Internet and entertainment, work hard very possible. Just nothing for raining day, rain hits sell Rolex to pawn shop get big lost. Light rain can take time sell privately for a better $$.
