De Beers is one step above the luxury watch makers because they make people pay so much for something with almost no intrinsic value. And they make use of our loved ones to coerce us into buying! At least a well-made luxury watch tells time for years, and we buy them by our own free will.

Lucky me, mine is willing to accept a watch. We have our eyes on an Omega De Ville Prestige, 34mm SS with blue mother-of-pearl dial. :D She wants it engraved, which means no resale value. But it's not like a diamond ring has any resale value, either.

As some bros suggested, I went to Seiko at Vivo to try out the GS'es. Even the smallest one proved to be too big for my skinny wrist, because of the long lugs. My hopes for getting a GS SD for my first luxury watch is now dashed. Probably going for the Aqua Terra 38.5mm instead.

And so I'm going to ask the question again - which shop is the best to hoot an Omega? The boutique at ION? Cortina? Hour Glass?

just sharing:

Definitely not a professional set. Got it to try out on a few 007s I picked up from eBay =:p

HAPPY NEW YEAR watch lovers

suggested next hoots:
- watchmaker loupe with wire headset.
- time-o-grapher.

:D

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!

A bit of a throwback: today I found my first watch that I bought with my own savings some years back. Since gonna gym anyway, I decided to wear it out.

ah, you got it when pvd black watches were the rage.

good watch. the 4r36 movement powering it is the very same one in more expensive day-date divers like the popular seiko turtle re-issue. because seiko 5 series doesn't have a screw-down crown, its water resistance is limited to only 100m.

curious:

Is there any watches that resemble Richard Mille or the Hublot's spirit of big bang?

At a much cheaper price of course lol.

watches are poisonous. some bros here are working towards their end-game watch(es) (truth is: say say only, where would end one. the watch gene has been spliced into our DNA liao. there can never be enough watches that we love :s13:).

non-watch lovers won't understand one.

if you want more high end stuff, try http://www.watchprosite.com/

cheers! :)

true watch lovers can appreciate a $100 watch right through to $1mil+. we love watches as mechanical marvels that are true and authentic to themselves. we hack care the wayang snobbery and we especially despise posers who buy and wear fake crap.

i'm wearing an orient mako pepsi automatic dive-style watch that i bought late Dec 2016 for $189 w/gst. it's water-resistant to 200m with a beautiful iridescent sun-burst blue dial and pepsi bezel. it has solid s/steel links bracelet, a decent heft to it, good quality finish & QC, everything aligns properly and its unregulated accuracy on wrist in daily wear is as good as my swiss made chronometer-grade omega 2254.50. it's a superb value-for-money watch that delivers more than some watches costing 10-50x its price. this is an example of an under-the-radar affordable watch that a serious watch lover respects. in fact, i'm chuffed.

in short, if you can get past the status symbol attached to watches and truly love them for their design & quality, you can enjoy it as a satisfying hobby without busting your wallet. :)

Yes speedy pro r using lemania but I also dunno why lemania become omega in-house=:p

Omega fully in-house can only count 9xxx movement, even the 2500 movement is under ETA base modify co-axial.

Sometimes I really dun understand who always taking about movement or what or what, but did not see him really own a JLC even a zenith... funny right:s22:

No offense. Just share what I learn from here.

Sometimes I really dun understand who wants to suan other people or what or what, but want to suan still put "no offense" in front... funny right:s22:

Joking nia. Just share what I learn from here.

Haha at least this one limited edition so wouldn't have too many in the ocean.

bro snowver, at the rate they're churning out variants of their turtle, they had better churn out a full colorpencil box set or at least a rainbow set.

right now they got the black, blue, sunburst PADI blue, ZIMBE grey, LE green, this sunburst blue dials. what they need is red, orange, yellow, indigo, violet... maybe tobacco sunburst (i'm guessing guitar god bro chickenbackside will sure like it if he has a tobacco sunburst fender strat or telecaster)! :s13:
