Talked to this uncle in the train.
He was wearing rolex 1675 gmt master.
He wore it since 1968. Never change a thing.
He tot it's worth 10k and I told him way more.
If all original and with boxes.

Nice patina on the lume plots and the insert is fading to a nice light red and blue.

Nice to see these uncles wear such stuff. Been with them for so any years.
To see myself. Selling watches every few months.

The modern pieces maybe not as captivating as the old ones.

The GMT 'Pepsi' has a historical connection to pilots (especially Pam-Am). I do agree that vintage watches have a certain charm to them, but there are certain nuances that were improved on, like the introduction of quick-set date on the GMT Master 16750.

For me, I really appreciate the comfort and ease of glidelock and not forgetting, the durability of solid end links.

dive = the one that you bloop into the water, not dive on table/play mahjong that diving

For me I can only wear the rolexes with latest generation bracelets.

Wanted a 16570 badly but didn't like it when I tried it on with the bracelet.

In the end decided to spend a little more on 216570. Bracelet quality surpasses my Pelagos.

How about a Seiko diver?

+1 for Seiko Diver. Around the same price as the Ocean 1 should be this, which won't be mistaken for a Sub homage.

I do love Seiko divers, but I do not understand why they do not want to use sapphire. The case size is also rather large..

If you appreciate newer stuff means you're not ready for vintage yet.
16750 is more of a transitional piece towards the gmt master 2.
I would take the 1675 anyday to a 16750.
There's a certain charm to old bracelet, the non quick set date.

Agree on the Glidelock clasp and solid end link vs the stamped clasp, non solid bracelet and non solid end link.

Not sure why I'm attracted more towards the transitional models like the 16750 and 16660. Then again, I am always ready for a 5514/5517 if the right opportunity ever presents itself (like win lottery).
