Probably not getting LHD liao haha. Next is prob the Speedmaster Speedy Tuesday edition provided they don't cock up my reservation. I think 20% off quite hard. Best I think is around 8-15%.

king in this recession, cash is. hard ball, play you must. :D

Thanks mpcdude! Also grateful to many others from this community that gave me advice on my first purchase.

Was truly surprised to receive word that one had arrived despite many places being out of stock at the moment, even though that meant I had to travel to Sentosa :s13:

you bought new from AD?

near mint pre-owned 114060 are available w/ b+p & remaining 4 yr warranty at least a grand off retail after discount. those without and no warranty lagi even less.

Darth baby tuna looks good
Still plastic shroud?

Yeah either the darth baby or PADI but gonna wait a few more months for price to stabilize. No rush. A bit expensive for a 4r36 movt though.

Yeah, I've actually considered the price difference between pre-owned and new, and I saw some mint/excellent condition ones for sale on Carousell. Like you said, many come with boxes and warranty remaining, and I was about to make an offer for a March 2016 as I have been waiting for one since before Christmas.

However, as I made up my mind to keep this the Submariner for life, I decided that adventure of getting one new from AD is a story in itself. Also it happened to be through a referral by a family member, who were friends with the salesperson since Secondary School nearly 20 years ago.

No matter what savings I could have had from pre-owned, the story behind the purchase is something that will be embodied in the watch.

ah, probably a purchase to mark an important milestone!

most important is: you're happy with your purchase and feel it's worth any extra money for the experience. what's the final price you paid for it?

mind sharing your experience? did you get any gifts? and did you pick up issue 6 of the rolex mag featuring the sub? :D

finally, congrats on your fine rolex sub. the 114060 is THE purest expression of the original rolex sub (because it did not come with a date) that one can buy with the best movement to date and a fantastic clasp (all previous crappy stamp metal ones looks and feel cheap by comparison). :s12:

wear it in good health! :)

Indeed, three years ago, I was posted to Armour during my National Service, and it was there I learnt many of the things and met many people who made my NS journey meaningful and memorable.

I'm afraid as many ADs are out of stock at the moment, price or discount negotiations are mostly to the disadvantage to the buyer, as I've experienced while looking for it.

I did notice while at Resorts World, the company (The Valiram Group) that owns the AD also carries many other brands like Ball, Oris, Tudor etc. (poisonous for the wallet), and I was fortunate enough to spot a Tudor Black Bay Bronze which was reserved and still has a waiting list for it.

As I already had the Issue #6 (Submariner), I requested for earlier copies, and they happen to have Issue #4 & 5. In addition, they gave some red packet papers (Cartier, Tudor) due to the upcoming Chinese New Year.

Thank you very much for the well wishes, and I am just glad to be part of the rich history of the Submariner. I hope to look for the 5512 (4-liner) which I feel the 114060 has a stronger lineage to compared to the 14060 which I feel is closer to the 5513.

P.S. Looking for a Submariner anchor to accompany the Leopard 2SG :s13:

this one is easy to use (just dump e watch there) and can use as backdrop to take photo also..

this offers better protection as the bracelet wont bua against the backside of the watch case

I vote for the second one! Simply because it can be used as a form of display as well

Also I thought something like this will work fine as well
