I like ur mentality

Haha YOLO!

Yea, feels like a carrot today ;) Oh well, money cannot buy time of enjoyment, so just be happy and look forward to saving up

Yes! Never get distracted and go for what you want.

As for end game, probably get a cheap Tudor Pelages or something next year. Defintely end game for this year, hahaha with too many travel plans booked.

Indeed bro, that's how I feel when I made the payment, but no one forced the knife. Enjoyment is most important! Lose some gain some, never knows as the world is round.

thank you, bro DXMachina! :) it's just my humble 40mm rolex explorer II. tbh, i didn't expect to score one on april fool's day, of all days! saw it in the window display at people's park complex. shop says it's a full set. the price of course is far, far away from gaoxing84's < $4.5k watch only, bargain of the year. but i'm a firm believer of the full set. so...

so... what made me do it? (no i didn't win any lottery - yet, but stay tuned! :D).

well, i missed out on the aluminum bezel GMT Master II wave cos i was still new & timid in my watch hobby/collecting. had i known the GMT Master's upside, i'd bought one before the price doubled! i know if i miss this chance now on the 40mm Exp II, i'll sorely regret it. :( the 40mm Exp II is just about the only affordable (and under-valued) sports rolex around now, and the 40mm polar explorer is already getting popular. imho, it has a very good upside potential. so i took a risk to ride the wave, before the 40mm Exp II eventually takes off like the GMT Master II!

also, mine came with a period correct, mint condition (serious!) dark green leatherette covered, thin wooden inner box with the beige inner wrap & watch pillow (not the modern wave pattern design), and mint condition outer box with green marbling. all in, the items in the package include:

1. my Z series 16570T white dial 40mm rolex explorer II. (no dings, no scratches. laser-etched crown on sapphire crystal at 6 o'clock position confirmed under illuminated loupe with secondary light source).
2. the period correct, mint condition dark green leatherette covered, thin wooden inner box with beige inner wrap & watch pillow.
3. the period correct, mint condition outer box with green marbling.
4. the dated AD warranty card (2007) with the watch model # and serial #.
5. the rolex explorer user booklet (yeah, the one featuring a cave explorer on the cover), printed 1.2007.
6. the attestation de chronometre officiel (official chronometer certification) booklet.
7. a mint condition 2006/2007 rolex pocket calender (serious!).
8. a brand new card case.
9. the mint condition rolex chronometer red seal hang tag with brillant hologram.
10 the green rolex hang tag (sticker removed).
11. 13 links (1 removed from bracelet).

the shop removed the bracelet and opened the case back to show and took photos of:
a. the watch model # on the case side at 12 o'clock.
b. the watch serial # on the case side at 6 o'clock.
c. the watch movement #.

the above details were recorded in the receipt, including:
d. the flip lock bracelet serial #. (this is the first time i realize that even bracelet got serial #!).
e. date of the warranty card.

:lick:  :s12:

oh, and one last thing: 24 month shop warranty (for what's it's worth, like complimentary polishing. but definitely not comprehensive lah: crystal, crown screw, and god-knows-what-else are excluded, lol). :s13:

was really an impulse buy without knowing much about rolex in general and the 40mm polar explorer in particular.

so bros, what else should i be looking out for?

Congrats TT01!
Happy for u.
Wear it in good health :)

Congrats... So receipt stated mid 13,14k or 12010? Cause now Rolex disallow AD selling above RRP.

Receipt stated the price paid, not the RRP. Been wanting me to clarify with Rolex on this but not able to find any email contact to Rolex directly lol!

Thanks bro! Old man already, when decided on buying something, just be prepared with the maximum amt of money willing to be paid. Of cos discounts are great if that's possible.

Did the same when I changed my car. Went into the showroom and look at the model wanted, asked for trade in price on my previous car and if acceptable, sign it and fill up the form. Then it's the waiting time game
