I'm personally a leather person and i am a big fan of the IWC Port Chronograph type of watches. But sadly i cannot afford as my budget is only around 200-500 per watch.

Do both your partner and yourself a favour and drop the DW idea. TONS of options in your budget. The new Seiko Presage "Cocktail" lineup looks mighty gorgeous IMO: http://wornandwound.com/seiko-brings-cocktail-time-presage-expands-line-new-models-colors/

Lots of leather strap options too.
