Been looking at a few watches recently, really like the Royal Oak 'Jumbo' 15202ST (in steel, not yellow gold as seen below), but I found the Vacheron Constantin 1942 (Historiques Triple Calendrier) really interesting as well.

Sh1jpGP.jpg

Priced at $31,800 for the 15202ST.

KM0JgFj.jpg

Priced at $28,600 for the VC 1942.

Both are priced rather close, but ultimately...

Maybe you need to sell 1 kidney and half a liver since both are very different in their own ways

Price should be not bad right? Might go get it tmr if it’s still there.

Very different looking watches, with the VC having a classic/antiquated look and the AP sportier more modern. If you really like both, looks like you need to get both..well at least you woud have completed 2/3 of the trinity :D

Indeed, both could not be more different; 'sport' and 'dress', integrated bracelet, "claw" lugs, date and triple calendar, automatic movement and manual winding.. the list goes on.

I am interested in the direction that VC is going, such as drawing more interest from the younger watch collectors. However, I do have my reservations on the 'FiftySix' collections, but will keep on open-mind until I see it in March/April.

Today I learnt that you can sell/donate half a liver and as the liver possesses a remarkable capacity to regenerate, it can regenerate back to its full size.

Interesting. Went to read up on the 56 collections. Seems to be keeping a classic look at lower price. Would appeal to those who are drawn to the likes of the datejust. The base model is probably the lowest priced watch in the market with a gold rotor. Obviously extending their reach into Rolex territory with this.

Basically everyone is moving to alternative materials with advancement in precision manufacturing technology - usually carbon fibre and ceramics. Personally I prefer some bling which these 2 materials lack. Also, polished ceramic looks plasticky to me. They cost more though.

Back to the initial question, i was asking because these variants are hardly discussed by many in different forums. So was kinda curious :s13:

Mido-Ocean-Star-Captain-V-Titanium-aBlogtoWatch-12-768x520.jpg

The Jaeger-LeCoultre On Your Wrist app might be one way to try on different JLC watches, but I'm not sure if my phone is having problems :s13:

In all honesty, I feel that it's a innovative approach by JLC to let people try on new releases, like the ones introduced at SIHH 2018, to gauge their interest before the pieces arrive at the boutiques and ADs.

Maybe Rolex will introduce their own app at Baselworld so people can 'wear' an augmented Daytona and make the waiting time more tolerable.
