The more I read about this collaboration, the more I felt strongly against owing a omega…

nothing wrong with owning a g shock because the market price and target audience has been that particular segment. Omega on the other hand, is like lowering itself to be a pasar malam brand.

imagine Louis Vuitton sells a keepall at $300!? They can close their boutiques and all preown shops will be stuck
Luxury brands collaborate with entry level brands all the time to introduce pieces to the mass market who might one day aspire to a higher end item. Some even create an entry level brand on their own.

Swatch has always been in this price segment.

Alexander Wang x Adidas (collab)
Rolex : Created an affordable brand Tudor
Fear of God : Created an affordable brand Essentials

Lol omega lowering it's brand to pasa malam, makes my day with this comment. Those who want a moonwatch this Swatch collaboration wouldn't satisfy the itch and likewise if you want a ap royal oak a zenith defy classic/tissot prx or gp laureato wouldn't scratch the itch either. Go check your facts on why people buy a omega or speedy .

There you have it. Swatch x omega have done it.

Exposure worldwide everyones talking about it rather than talking about rolex
We guys here have just become part of hyping the project up by talking about it. future and upcoming young adults will get exposure to omega, possibility of catching up with rolex in term of market share from the young crowd.

everyone talking about this project from a consumer point of view, few look at it from a business point of view.

Definitely a win win situation for the swatch group.
all along a win. lol but omega have to do this to gain traction.
very very sad for a big manufacture

versace and moschino has different tiers as well, cater for different crowd segments.

essentials is doing pretty well, really for those who doesn't want to pay a leg for the main tier FG, to sort of start off with their entry level.

so for now, every tom dick harry will know whats a speedy. definitely a win win for omega x swatch.

FOG ESSENTIAL for YPs. hahaha

i not a young punk but honestly initially i also skeptical on the hype like majority yp hyping it.

i got one via online and not feeding the carousell resellers after the major hype slowly faded off and i quite like the material and fitting, its quite comfortable.

essentials still can attract middle age grp abit i feel, those simpler classic designs.

Wat is jlc AD rates these days? Thought 15% off (at least) a given
2 years ago could get up to 20%. but like all brands these days discount are getting cut or close to 0% (e.g cartier). JLC depends on model but 5-10%, closer to 5% for the ultra thin afaik.

No matter what the opinion is here, you can’t deny that Omega and Swatch have scored a big marketing win.

Is this Apollo 8 one of the their limited production models? I went into the omega boutique and a few ADs hoping to have a look at this and they didn't have it in stock.
