swiss watch makers making carrots out of customers...

AP - 3 increase in 1 yr
Omega - ard 20% increase for moonwatch..

:(:(

Their justification is 3861 is the below. Don’t buy no demand so cause another quartz crisis

https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/the-omega-speedmaster-professional-moonwatch-master-chronometer-with-co-axial-caliber-3861

That co-axial escapement, and the silicon balance spring, make for a movement which is in fact far better suited to the rigors of spaceflight than the 1861. The 1861's service record in space considerably surpasses that of any other mechanical movement, but it simply can't compete functionally with the 3861, which can resist magnetic fields up to at least 15,000 gauss and which should be able to better resist shock, temperature changes, and keep a closer rate over a longer time period as well (and, of course, which also enjoys an advantage over the 1861 in terms of service interval as well).

Not about the movement being discontinued. If you want a Speedmaster now, your options are: (i) new Speedmaster, (ii) NOS previous version, (iii) second hand previous version.

Naturally, with the price increase for (i), highly likely that shops will raise the prices for (ii) - cos why not? And that will push (iii) up.

It's the same reason why older Subs price increase over the years. Simple economics. The only question is how much.

3570.50 prices have been quite stable over the years though, regardless of the big box new model launched previously. Let’s see how this is affected by the latest speedmaster

My impression is that it has gone up.

But I haven't been following closely after I bought my small box version. Dunno if the few listings I did see in passing when browsing Carousell were just sellers that over-estimated their pricing. Let's not forget that for the big box versus small box version, the price differential is essentially for the box set. :s13:
