Are people who wear expansive watches snobbish?

just now got one guy in his thirties laughing at me, with zero EQ, when I ask about quartz. I’m not even talking or asking him. In fact I’m asking a uncle.

What do you mean by that?

I admit I’m a noob in watches and I don’t intend to explore this expansive hobby. I just want a Swiss watch for the occasion.

If not, I would have bought a Hamilton or Certina when I was in Swiss in 2018.

not really a fan of VC blue.
prefer their black dial with grey chapter ring
They are both class. Wouldn’t complain with either haha. I’m going to Switzerland next month. I wonder if it’s possible to pick one up at retail over there.

You can probably substitute watches with cars, or houses. Or anything expensive for that matter. Why would being a snob be exclusive to people who like watches?

Chances are close to zero. They don’t sell more watches in Switzerland. And wait list is around 3 years from what I last checked with SA.

Watches are more accessible and more obvious?

If you can you have a landed home. How will folks be able to know?

Bro, you do realise you live in the age of social media right. If you can flex about a watch, you can flex about your GCB.

And why did you just pick on houses? Why not cars, bags, shoes, or anything branded that cost a pretty dime? Those are equally obvious no? How does liking watch deserve to generalise as a snob?

I’m aware of Social Media bragging. But to get ridicule publicly isn’t right.

I hope you if I can ask you, have experienced being laughed publicly at if someone, have a more expansive home or bags etc?

if you can afford better things. So be it.
