i think wearing a watch with meaning like couple watch or somebody buy for you for a special occasion wins any branded watch anytime.

depending on where you are working, sometimes quite materialistic to have a proper watch to show your colleagues or boss or clients that you are doing well yourself and can afford. unless your office is all aunties then no need to impress.

if not, another reason to go into watches is as a hobby, expensive but why not if you can and appreciates fine time pieces.

I only wear it as "jewellery" when I meet clients. No watch for a normal office day.

Hi All! It's interesting to read up so much about watches from this thread and I just found it recently as I would like to learn how to appreciate them instead of just buying a watch without knowing much.

I just bought a Tissot recently, How do you guys rate Tissot? In terms of its value, build and quality? Or whatever you guys call it.

I hope I didn't make the wrong decision to buy a Tissot.

if u are wearing shirt for your work, shoes, belt and watch is required to complete the "look".

now if i take off my watch at my desk, i will feel uncomfortable like something is missing, so i wear my watch back.

Haha too bad i dont treat watch as a kind of jewellery for myself. Guess the next time i will get a watch is the time when i buy our next couple watch!

Nice 507! Similar to the 382 Bronzo that I am dreaming about.

But I too love the 389, tried it on at Ion Panerai and almost ran out with the watch! Haha!

in general, the resale values of Omegas are alright, probably in the upper range. definitely not as high as Rolex's resale value though

I've friends in personal banking who wear expensive watches on purpose to show their clients that they've already "made it" and can be taken seriously. I guess it does work to certain extend

yep, it is a materialistic world. least you can do is to wear a watch that says good about your taste or something that is within your pay scale and not over do it.

What is your wrist size? The L2L of that watch should be easily 53-54mm. A bezel-less watch (or wafer-thin bezel) will also mean a larger dial, translating to a visually larger watch.

If possible, try out the watch @ Gnomon first. Or alternatively, you can consider the 44mm Nav B Chrono II.

I finally pulled the trigger...got the SBGA011...

Went down to the shop and they originally said the model was out of stock, the guy offered to send it to me via EMS when the stock came in...then they called the customer who reserved the last piece and he cancelled it, therefore I got my grubby hands on it hehe =D

The dial is fantastic...not to mention the second hand...

LLD is 22mm lug width.

My advice is try to avoid leather straps with curved ends at the lugs as they may not suit all case types. The flat end ones are safer.

Off-the-rack straps can also be a problem for someone with small wrists, when you are wearing a big watch or when the watch has obscene L2L distances. In which case, there exists a good chance that the smallest hole wouldn't fit snug on your wrist (that's just a preference).

Fortunately, there are bespoke leather straps services available to cater to all needs, with the downside being the higher prices commanded.

For natos, they're generally cheap and tend to fit most wrist sizes. If your wrists are smaller, you may want to avoid nato straps that are too long (like Maratacs for example) as they tend to have a long "tail" that you may not be able to fully tuck under.

Why buy a fake watch though it looks like the real thing? If can afford and willing to spend, buy the real watch. If not, buy something that is within our budget. Stay away from the fakes. Wearing fake watches makes one feels like a loser.

i rather buy 500$ seiko than $500 fake
