omega at $2k+?? the ones i see are like 8-10k range.

anyway, i'm looking for a first watch. i saw the tag carrera after disc at about $5400. i absolutely love the design but the price tag is what hindering me from buying. i felt first watch at 5k is kind of too much. my budget for a first watch is hopefully at 2-3k, so that 5yrs later i can upgrade to a 5-8k watch. then again, i could go for a 5k watch now and dont have to change for the next maybe 8-10yrs.

i saw the seiko astron, that is also a nice watch. anybody know where sells it and i could go take a look?

lastly any recommendation for a 2-3k watch brand, preferably recognizable brand.

thanks for all your inputs in advance!

similar design that you like from other brands:

Hamilton Jazzmaster Maestro Chrono

Louis Erard 1931 Chronograph

Archimede Classic Chronograph (Online brand)

All within your budget (a fraction of the cost of the Tag). Do note that the models from Louis Erard and Hamilton do not have seconds (hand or sub-dial) indicator. The Archimede has a sub seconds dial while the Tag has a second hand.

Watch wears pretty large on the wrist.

No second hand.

Sinn is a german brand and its relatively unknown. I will not pay more than 2.5k for this watch after all of these considerations. Find that 3k is too much.

its not worth the cash, but the watch looks good.

care to share your review of tag heuer (owners)? :o

the reverso has many random LEs too. remember the batman and raffles hotel LEs recently? :s22:

they do have auto but crazy overpriced:

AUTOMATIC

Tag heuer owners -

luxury seekers with a prudent budget. Doesn't believe in paying the price of a franck muller/panerai for an ETA driven watch

Because seiko, tissot and hamilton are too mainstream.

good you've gotten your priorities straight. just buy what you like and can afford. don't be sucked into the whole "a watch determines the wearer's personality and status" because that can be applied to everything else u own and wear (clothes, shoes, car, wallet, etc) - only the insecure define their self-worth by the material goods they own.

priorities and goals change over time, as will watch taste (and the perceived value/standing of the different brands). build up your collection slowly. good luck! :)

Opinions & stereotypes (stigmatization) are inevitable.

Cant drive an Mercedes Benz without people forming assumptions.

Cant wear a Rolex without people forming assumptions.

What we do, determines who we are.

Buying a Rolex constitutes into the "What we do" aspect. Its part of a conscious decision.

The insecurity you talk about is also an issue that Rolex and Mercedes owners often faces, so as to not to be seen as poor, hence such conspicuous display of opulence is perceived as necessary.

Of course, i hope i am not explicitly saying that Rolex owners are insecure....but because of this excessive display of wealth - they are

A rolex makes a statement - it is dying to prove something. Despisable, if i must be honest.

To go off topic a little, there is also another form of insecurity, because of this knowledge that Fossil watches don't quite cut it in life.

Fossil watches or cheap watches in general actually look bad. Those people are painfully aware of the difference between a GO and a Fossil watch.

And as a result, they dont feel good about wearing poor quality watches.

This UTM 39, I think full retail is not more than 12k. You certain?
I've been looking at this and below recently.

poncio438uf5.jpg

I on other hand, find most of the reversos and and master control JLCs appealing, even the entry level ones.

I must be old.

Yeah im sure of the price. Its approx 14k

Hey guys what do you all think about the new Orient Aviator Flight series? I particularly like the blue one ER2A004D

Official product information: http://www.orient-watch.com/products/category/item/?category_id=159

video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GDA54p3dL0&list=UU8RnO5Tuj3g_DRz4OCnsFHg&index=2

I'm in my early 20s studying in uni, I don't think I need a very expensive watch, doesn't fit my current student status. And I'm a sporty person, so I think this really suits me. What you guys think? And where can I get this watch? Is ordering from Island Watch safe? Thanks for the advice!

I saw it at MBS with bracelet and it is a beauty.... don't really look like $1K or $2K watch... :)

but AP is still AP (ADDITIONAL PRICING) for the logo branding & workmanship. :)

Lol... I feel the finishing is tip top especially the decorated movement, worth the money spent.

C5 Malvern Automatic MK I - 38mm Mens - 30% Preview

what do you guys think of this watch?

felt an impulse to buy, but don't want a impulse purchase due to the sale..

maybe i should just focus on my tissot visodate/stowa..

Tissot and CW, I get CW
Vs Stowa I get stowa

5 yr warranty plus they cover your shipping cost to them can't beat that
60 days return policy, even impulse buy also can return for full refund. Unlike tissot or stowa no refund
