Hello everyone,

I would like to sincerely seek your advice on looking for a choice of watch. I am totally clueless about the watch scene so please bear with me if I do seem to ask "stupid" questions.

I have a budget of 2K and I would like to have a chronograph watch with a design similar to this.

CARRERA CALIBRE 1887AUTOMATIC CHRONOGRAPHSpace X43 mm Silver Leather bracelet | TAG Heuer

I'm going for a classic, contemporary and timeless design, something to be worn daily. Although I do not like metal as the material for the strap. I would very much have leather instead.

Essentially, it would be a gift for my birthday so it would be great if I could go down with my parents to a physical store to purview the various watches before purchasing.

I have short listed Tag Heuer as one of the possible options but I'm not sure whether it would fit into the budget.

I would greatly appreciate your help!

Best Regards

since i myself is aiming for a sinn watch(u1). i will recommend a sinn 556a or 556i. below 2k for sure. is it 21st? if yes congratulations.

Don't. Get stowa flieger instead. 2801 movement. You will never look back at steinhart anymore.

Other then stowa long waiting time, I would dare say the price is almost similar. Resale value also so much better

just one minor question for automatic watch regarding winding down.

I have been wearing my 25hours automatic daily (From Monday to Friday) and I wind it everyday in the morning about 15-20 times. Should I let it wind down completely over the weekends? because even over the weekends, i still wind it...

If I am to let it wind down... should I let it wind down completely until it stops moving? If I let it wind down completely, will it affect the setting of the perpetual calendar?

Many school of thought on this, but hor if it's a auto and u wear it everyday, don't wind it la, wind only if the PR doesn't last through the night and u intend to wear it in the morning.

Some people advise to let the mainspring rest once in a while and let it fully run down over the weekend?

I was looking around ebay usa and noticed that alot of TH around. I then go n look around for reasonably priced with very good rating seller with at least 1000 and above. Even if they don't ship to sg, can ide vpost, etc.

I think the picture n description is very useful to determine if u will like the condition. Furthermore ebay got buyer protection, very safe.

As for my watch, its 350 usd. When it arrived, the watch is same as in pics but alot hairline scratches. I went to bronze age n spend $20 to touch up, looking good now.

nice TH!!! from the looks...its almost BNIB.
care to share your experience with the seller? bought from ebay USA or SG.
cuz I just set my eyes on a few pre-owned TH carrera on ebay USA... planning to get one as a xmas gift for myself or as a super early bday gift for myself

I used to keep my automatics on a winder 24/7....until I ran out of space on my 6 watch-winder.

now I also cant be bothered if they are wound 24/7. the problem is my wife changes watches to wear daily and I have to adjust the time and/or date for her.
