Cannot lah need to take leave and all in advanced. Her birthday end of jan.

How did u pull it off???

Not easy to keep it under wrap. .
Something like what skybro said... for my case i ask my wife to take off on mon to wed one week in advance. Of cuz she will ask. I say we go hotel go relax...then on sat instead of go sentosa I just bluff her we go hotel but once on cab told driver go airport...

She was of cuz surprised and kept asked where we go. But I kept quiet till we checked in for our ticket and she saw was bangkok...
Fiest question was "clothing?"
I told her we go there buy... everything go there buy :)

hi guys,

I'm planning to look for a watch this weekend and currently looking to go to Mustafa centre and probably bras basah.

But I'm not sure which shops to take note of and was wondering if you guys could recommend any good watch shops with decent varieties :)

Budget? Type? Usage?

Does it even require re oiling? I thought the mechanism is supposed to last many years without oiling?

Yes, didn't u read the user manual?
iirc it recommended to do every 5yrs.
I am sure it didn't state use 1-2 decade before servicing.

yes the service manual hasn't change for ages, lubricants has improved much like those in cars. some AD recommend doing every 7-10 yrs.

if U are using your rolex as a tool watch for diving, its best to get it checked out. seals maybe worn and one may risk spending alot more $$ to service it is more than changing rubber gaskets and oiling.

we have two toddlers. how?

Well.... need to coordinate with your in laws or your parents to help take care of them for a few days and remember to tbe appreciative when you're back....
As for your wife... her mind will definitely be on your kids even when overseas.. so make it a point to do daily check in with a simple phone call.
You will definitely need to give a lot of assurance and reassurance to her throughout the trip that everything is gonna be fine... don't worry... just relax and enjoy this surprise... let her know that it has been years since both of you are able to enjoy some quiet and private moments together...

Oh one more thing. In case your kids fell ill... ask your in laws to keep it quiet first And settle it...
otherwise your wife will definitely wanna fly back asap. If she can't, probably you can call off the whole trip as her mind is no longer on "holiday mode"
And probably she may even scold you for arranging such things and warn you against doing so in future...

AD tends to give more discount. its like whats the diff when u buy a samsung phone from samsung flagship store itself or from AD, no diff... AD sells abit cheaper.

Not sure if you'd refer to Orchard Central as high-end, but that branch does not carry AP.

@yattokame, try the Malmaison @ Knightsbridge. They'd definitely carry it.

but actual boutique usually got more free gifts such as free straps, watch travel box, extra warranty, watch brand keychain/cap and books.

I was thinking ion, paragon, even the one at Tangs. Apart from royal oak, what other AP series are popular?

Certain models are boutique exclusive. Boutiques also have priority on popular models. Eg the AP RO15400. Another eg, iwc boutique gives no discount. They offered me an additional strap and extra year warranty instead.

in our case, I'm the paranoid one. have never travelled without our kids before. I'd miss them too much - I even asked my boss NOT to send me overseas anymore (yes that somehows affect my performance grade) because I cannot imagine spending a day without them around.

already booked tokyo disney hotel for three nights in march - spending the kids' birthday there.

but because of them (and I'm meeting some associates for work), it really is very hard for me to find time to go to jackroad etc. bringing my folks along as well. All within the march sch hols so very limited time too.

not really keen in HK disney actually - have heard too much horror stories about the PRCs there...... have also brought the kids to HK before. and a bit sick of HK already. used to go there every quarter.
