Need advice ..... When someone is selling the latest version of a Panerai (pam305 in this case) which is "BNIB" at $10,500 when it retails at $13k+, why is he doing it? BNIB means unworn right...?

I have a JLC and she thought it will be nice for her to have one too. This one caught her eyes:

Yes, I ever asked this question to a watch maker and he told me that the mechanism in a old watch is more reliable as compared to the new one.

Why is that so? Wouldn't the gears be more worn out, metals oxidised etc in an old watch

More likely the guy purchased from overseas at a lower price and selling to others now for some profit. Similar to grey dealers

Actually I feel olden days luxury products quality is higher than current products. All due to aim for better profit for share holders

depends on what type of feel you wanna portray and which want you like the most.

in terms of iconicity, sub would be the most iconic with its divers background followed by the daytona for its racing heritage and im not sure about the gmt master.

in terms of versatility, all can be worn casual or smart i guess. down to what you looking for.

Yatto-san, not sure abt local prices but after googling around i found the steel one was ard 25k while RG was abt 33k. But I read the steel one is only exclusively sold in the boutiques though.

perhaps he got it overseas at much cheaper than now resell for profit. not unheard of. I've done the same myself.

That 's what holding me back to get the 1970+ Rolex.

I wonder how long more it can last and the condition of the movement inside.

Note many vintage watch movement are gold plated. Gold oxidizing....

In fact that's the least of my worries.. It's more mishandled when oil dry up damaging movement. Considering most ppl here don't service watches. I don't expect our elders to be knowledgable enough to take care of watches
