There may come a time when you start to appreciate smaller watches. Otherwise..

Waiting for wife. In carpark.
Gey kiang wanna adjust my mini white bracelet cos its a bit loose; or I've lost more weight lately.
Halfway through I sneezed and the springbar disappered into springbar paradise never to be seen again.

Oh no. RIP spring bar.

Maybe you can retire the watch and get a PAM. Those don't have spring bars to lose.

New love for the PAM 441 again. Just got my bespoke strap. Ostrich leather is from the same material Hermes uses for their bags.

Exceptional quality.:)

Some details from the eBay listing:
Maker and model: Favre leuba, Duomatic
Movement: Automatic, Swiss made quick set date call 908
Case: 37.5mm without crown

Can't really see much of the case back, pretty faded off but it reads swiss made , water resistant, favre leuba , stainless steel with its logo in the middle.

Thinking of changing to a blue strap, a brighter lighter tone from the dial. What do u guys think :D

received this earlier this year but first time out with this watch...
hXJumQD-eLuCiXqEVBit4N701H8ViYqfh6QDkXPzN0Y=w671-h1193-no

any more certina fans out there? they have some excellent designs in the past, faded away due to the rise of quartz, but under new leadership has recently been churning out some nice new watches under.

not a bad time to speculate on vintage certinas now.

more about this brand please:s13:
actually I dont mind buying some vintages here and there..I think vintages have a lot of character but I dont have much knowledge on them..scared get ripped off or have a spend an obscene amount of money trying to service or repair them.

I got the Favre Leuba because I thought the price is pretty reasonable, even if something goes wrong the most I could lose is only USD50 bucks.a562140 kor kor seems like quite the expert of vintages..seeing u have a fair collection of them.

Any recommendation for something affordable yet nice to have ?

If u want an affordable vintage try mido, enicar. Of u have the budget say usd$300-400 can look at omega or girard perregaux, zenith or a Vulcain alarm. Then again omega and zenith will be a rare find as prices do go up to usd$1k

Try eBay seller jozef2710, he has some NOS NIDOR, a died Swiss brand prices in the usd$50 range. I got a NIDOR from him and checked out find with a watchmaker.

Can consider sandoz, tissot, rado and the perennial seikos citizens
Caveat emptor, and research needed for more expensive items
Thus more stressful than buying new :s22:

And the disease of "strap-gaga" isn't limited to Panerai watches either...

I know everyone is going strap crazy with Pams but not me leh...for me it's the watch mainly. :o

Bund strap with weather like these few days? :s8:

the rise of the modern panerai brand has been phenomenal due to all those points you raise. it really was nothing more than a microbrand in the 90's though it had a long history. credit to its ability to have the discipline to keep to one look - albeit many variations.

but variation and choice - thats not just panerai but the whole watch industry today. not just a few top brands, but even more brands at affordable levels producing just as good or even better quality (short of in-house movements but thats a different kettle of fish)... never a better time to be a watch collector!

From what I see the rise of Panerai is largely due to one reason. This :

Like LKY and Singapore. I am a tad concerned if long-time CEO Bonati leaves, things may change, and change in the watch industry is not something welcomed with outstretched arms like it usually is.
