I don't own any shell cordovan straps but I do own a Horween shell cordovan wallet. It's really tough as hell. You'll literally need to take knife/scissors to cut it if you want to destroy it. After trying shell cordovan, the other leather wallets don't really appeal to me anymore. You can give me LV, BV, Gucci, Prada etc and I still won't budge.

The shell cordovan is most commonly available in black and #8, a burgundy sort of color. Once in a blue moon rarer colors do appear on the market or certain makers may have special arrangements with Horween. If you ever see like green or navy shell cordovan, I'll snap it up if you don't.

^BTW, the strap your posted is a chromexcel which is not shell cordovan. Chromexcel is another category of treated leather which comes in pretty exotic colors too. Horween is the tannery while shell cordovan refers to the horse posterior (butt) leather so they are always available only in 2 pieces per horse, hence the high premium for the shells. Here's something from Daluca straps.

Ok you got me decided on a horse posterior wallet and strap.....though I was and am actually still very keen on the full grain leather wallet from saddleback. I like things to last a lifetime, partly why I like quality watches. Now that u mention I can imagine why shell cordovan has that look when I imagine a horse hide.

Never tried Reno on my strap though, maybe cuz I use cheapo strap

for Panerai lovers, i strongly recommend 20straps

exceptional quality straps for Pam and other watches that has 24mm lug size. They now have 26mm.

Good thing about buying from them, is they do COD and the boss is very willing to show you his entire range of collection. You can pick and choose from there. I personally own CA101, CA108 and CA 111.

Checked out the shell cordovan straps from Daluca. It's only 2mm thick not so suitable for a chunky Panerai eh....

This morning, I thought of sharing another piece I got while I was in America on another project. I bought this piece from an old American Lady.

This is a 1920s American Elgin Ladies Pocket Watch.

The case is in very good condition almost mint but the movement needed cleaning but as you can see, it is not dirty as well. I guess the old lady must have keep it in a good place. It looks like a job for Jeff for the cleaning. We drank too much last night.....

Discovered 20Straps last night and almost pulled the trigger on them but put them on hold because I still waiting for a few straps to come in. Wife looking crossed liao!

I have a similarly thick (2.9mm) leather (not shell though) strap and it seems fine. Very soft and pliable, and looks fine on the wrist, maybe if you choose a darker colour.
