Hi guys, i got a budget for a watch not more than 10k. what sort of watch do you recommend?

This is gonna be my first luxury watch (hopefully not the last) and i wanted to buy something that i can use for quite some time.

Thinking of a rolex sub. Would that be a good start?
Got one friend suggested Omega Seamaster + Sinn

I would recommend a ball watch, they look good and are generally very well made
If you are young and want a casual watch, not too pricey yet more unique than casio etc can try the Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium

get a Rolex Sub or explorer 2.
if U don't mind use U can get an explorer 2 used and a nice Zenith from grey to use a daily beater.

yeah same here. the brand is a victim of its own success i'd say.

their resoluteness in keeping to a few basic design earned them their respect... they weren' t the first but they kept to their guns and over time made their design a reference.

You are very fortunate to have SGD10k, which is a lot of money to blow on one watch, especially your first luxury watch.

Taste changes and many don't stop at one So you might consider breaking your puchases into two as recommended by your friend, and space out those purchases so you get time to enjoy each one at a time.

Also consider the advantages of buying used -less depreciation loss, less heartbreak when/if you scratch it.

For beginners I would suggest one of the modern collector's staple:
- rolex sub/gmt/explorer
- omega speedmaster moonwatch and seamaster planet ocean (specifically)
- panerai (any)

Mostly because there are lots of materials and fans on the web to learn more about the watch, how it works and its history (which i find the most fascinating), and you will be able to find fellow owners to discuss your watch and get into the community quickly.

Also just for fun you might want to think about some "spare change" for some cheaper watches like a Seiko skx007 or SNZH5X which is mod-able...and accessories like straps.

Best is you go down to the boutiques and try the watches yourself. Also take a hike down to Bencoolen and Far East to check out some used/vintage watches...just to get an idea to what happens to watches over time, and also for design inspiration.

Like any luxury good purchase, its a personal thing. You need to justify purchase yourself. Everyone else will only tell you what they like

There are many many brands of luxury watches as there are preferences by all of us here in this forum. So, as many here have mentioned, the best is to go to different boutiques or ADs to try out the different brands & models. Don't be shy to ask and many of the sales people will be happy to help. You will find that as you try the different watches, you may end up with many watches that you like. Take your time to make a decision. Ultimately, it's a personal choice.

I'd spend it all on one substantial watch. But that's just me.

For 10k, the Rolex range is at you finger tips. You can't go wrong with that. You can use it until the day you die, and then your children can continue using it, and it won't run out of style either.

But do make an informed decision. Read up on the history, innovations...etc of each brand, and see which appeals to you most. After all, the appeal of watches lie largely on the emotional end of the spectrum. Otherwise, we'd all just not wear watches and tell time from our phones.

The last thing you want is to find out that the watch you paid thousands for, has a stigma attached to it that really bothers you, for eg. Rolex = ah pek...etc.

Rolex not so ah pek ah... The SS sports models are quite sporty and executive looking.
