Rolex not so ah pek ah... The SS sports models are quite sporty and executive looking. :)
I know. I like Rolex. In fact, for 10k and below, it has to be a Rolex for me if it's the only watch I have.

Just saying many people avoid it just because they think it's an ah pek brand, or that it's too common.

There are many many brands of luxury watches as there are preferences by all of us here in this forum. So, as many here have mentioned, the best is to go to different boutiques or ADs to try out the different brands & models. Don't be shy to ask and many of the sales people will be happy to help. You will find that as you try the different watches, you may end up with many watches that you like. Take your time to make a decision. Ultimately, it's a personal choice.

Good Luck and don't forget to post a wrist shot here once you've gotten it!

:D

If you could share more details on what you are looking for in this watch (to be used as daily beater, special occasions only, celebrating any milestones, to keep and handdown or looking to flip) and any personal preferences (brands, sporty vs dress, strap vs bracelets, simple movement vs complications/functions like chrono, moon phase, dial size, auto vs manual wind) and possibly some age and lifestyle info (if you are comfortable to share) - it will help to channel everyone to provide u more relevant suggestions for consideration.

That said, the original piece you mentioned that you had in mind (the rolex submariner) is definitely a classic that won't go wrong. The only downside I can see is it being 'too common', if that is something bothering you.

But I rather get a 'common' watch that I like than a less 'common' watch that I like less for the sake of being different. And that's why I am submariner owner myself :D

Common is not really a bad thing. It shows how tested the product is. See Samsung Galaxy series of mobile phones and iPhones. How many of us carry a different phone?

frankly speaking u buy a watch u likes and loves... why do u want to bother at what other is saying. Anything below 10k yes only rolex worth to buy..

However abit sad to say.. i know ppl who is able to blow 90k for a watch still buy Rolex cause it is the only luxury brand he/she knows and he/she knows still worth some money if pawn. For me i will get Patek and another AP..:D

Read more about the watch brands and history and why they come out certain model or limited models will make yr watch seeking trip more fulfilling..

Hi guys, i got a budget for a watch not more than 10k. what sort of watch do you recommend?

This is gonna be my first luxury watch (hopefully not the last) and i wanted to buy something that i can use for quite some time.

Thinking of a rolex sub. Would that be a good start?
Got one friend suggested Omega Seamaster + Sinn

There are a WHOLE range of watches available for 10K.
And these watches can last you a long time with little or no maintenance.

given to me 10k.

probably 3 watches
Rolex Sub = very common but iconic, people know from a far. In CDB area, everyday can find at least 10 people wearing sub. Black SS, Hulk. So far haven't see Blue face with white gold.

Panerai Base 000, 112 or 312 - Also common, huge ass, heavy, strap changing feature. Slightly different from the rest of the standard watch case design.

IWC Portuguese Chrono - Dress watch. Super nice blue hands. Less common I guess.

Or don't blow all 10k

Drop 5-6k first, save 4k, add another 10k some other time and hoot another one. haha there you have 2 luxury watch.

I never doubt lah...

find the brushed finish not bad and should be more resistant to scratches.

my 000 got scratches which I have no idea when I hit it and I seldom wear it...
