This model is with the fluted while gold bezel, of course it will look uncle if it's full yellow gold. I also tried the one without bezel and looks a bit plan.

My edmw story. If inappropriate let me know.

Last time got ger knocked into my Panerai watch with her Prada bag buckle in Mrt. I noticed she was only 17-18 years old and she was a sweet young thing.

She wore a nice black laced low cut corset dress and exhibited a petite figure no taller than 1.63m.

She apologized and said "Sir, I'm so sorry...I hope I didn't caused too much damage...:(" her eyes watering up as I quickly looked away for fear of being charmed.

I looked down at my panerai, and I saw a huge chip on it.
I was so sad and I told her..."lady, it costs $320 to polish my watch."

I had a poker face. She then said...."how can I make it up to you? I just spent my last bit of my internship $$ on my prada bag "
It's a FW14 bag...you know..it just doesn't stay on shelves that long"

I said to her, "nah, it's alrite. " in half defeated tone. I was a management trainee then and money was hard to come by. I gave an awkward smile and stood in one corner, only to alight at queenstown mrt station, to head home.

To my surprise, she was walking along the same route as me. I felt strange and I thought she might be staying in the same apartment block as me.

She went into same lift as me. My heart froze for a moment. "Wow, a sweet young thing staying here huh"

I pressed the 12th floor and waited for her to press her floor button. She didn't.

She came out with me and followed me right to my doorstep.
I was shocked. It was beyond my wildest imagination that the hottest girl in the train followed me back.

She then watched as I awkwardly unlocked my front gate, only to squeeze past me, heading inside my house.

She then faced me in the front...and pulled down her top to expose her front. I was shocked. I didn't know what to do.

She said "I'm worth more than $320." I smiled to myself.

Proof it happened

Reading the last few pages brought back some memories.

I used to have a friend, whom back when he just got his Class 3 license, was super excited about getting his first car; he was in Poly back then, between 18-19 years old. He came from a moderately well-to-do family and his dad was some kind of big shot in the government sector(or so he claimed), so he was looking at getting a continental car. "Want to buy might else as well one time buy good one", he used to say to us.

So, this friend would "decide" on a car like say an E-Class, spend a whole day or two going on about how good it is and how everyone who wants a car should buy one, and then change his mind a few days later. This went on for a couple of months(no ****). Eventually, he made up his mind - he wanted a 5-Series, and he began his usual schtick about how it was the best car available in the market. We were all pretty convinced that he was going to get the car because he stopped changing targets and kept talking about it for a little more than a month, and even told us that he went to test drive the car and bragged about how he made friends with the SAs. Everyone thought he was going to get the car; "Want to buy might else as well get the best", right ?

He got his brand new Honda Fit two months later.

the only reason i wanted a Patek is because i have this idealogy that if i want something, i will just buy the best and be done with it

sounds kinda weird but yeah i guess i may just settle for something else or wait till later this year before i pick up an Aquanut.

i can share with my dad to wear it :o

JDR, from the perspective of someone near your age...

I do not have the privilege to own or be able to have a high-end watch like Patek or ALS. But I was fortunate that my mother bought me my Tudor Black Bay to celebrate the success of me losing weight from three digits to what I am today. I told her I am alright with a good Seiko watch, but she insisted me to have something I like as it also won't have any impact to the financial status of the whole family.

But I realize the money of the Black Bay can be spend so much wiser if I had not purchase the Black Bay, I can easily finish off my piano to Grade 8, learn driving without the worry of failing so as I need to retake (i.e more money) or University where the money of my Black Bay can almost pay off the whole semester of the University. It's true that I am not worried about the financial status of my family, but can't fail to think that the money can be spend on better option (even more when a Patek is like 3 to 4 times the price of my Black Bay).

It is true that Black Bay price is not even close to the price point of Patek Aquanaut (4k vs 16k), but that is precisely the point. Even a simple 4k watch can be so wisely for so many other occasion and we are not even talking about a 16k watch yet, where the possibility can be even bigger, investment, save up for a own business and more.

IIRC you will be going into NS soon? Do remember NS gives us peanuts and we definitely need more than that to survive through the NS period, and eventually Uni (or perhaps you starting own business? Then the more you should plan if you should really need a Patek) where the expenses is more than NS and even Polytechnic combine.

No, we are not trying to stop you on getting your "best" watch. It's your money and of course how will you eventually want to do with it is totally up to your decision. But all of us just can't fail to notice that a young adult like you is spending over 10k on a watch, of course all the pros and experts will come in give their advices and opinions, it is entirely up to you if you will actually want to heed their advice (or even mine).

Also remember JDR, we are talking to you without pulling your background from EDMW, you should know how "foul" your name is in that forum, and of course we definitely see trait from there as well, NATO. Showing picture of you taking two Pateks doesn't passed of as wanting to buy a watch, if that's the case I am considering buying Richard Lange or even Bovet watches already (few hundred thousands).

Like a common saying "We can be nice, or we can be nasty"... Not sure if you are here during the Bapok (Beepok) "saga".

Anyway points to take home

- We are not trying to stop on buying your watch
- There is better way to spend you money, even more so at your age
- Will we really see you even buy a watch few months or years down the road? :s8:;)

Pardon my English, want quickly type finish as I just finished my workout and sitting here in gym browsing the forum, awhile ago actually got chiobu in front, so I don't mind but since she left I seems to type faster! Oh well, time to head home :).

A few months ago, JDR posted here asking for recommendations for an "entrepreneur" watch.

CNY is coming up, I'd better ask around on the tailoring thread for "money-changer" trousers.

buying the best, buys aquanaut :s22:

Don't understand why but it's one of the models I wouldn't even want if I had extra cash.

Nautilus is soooooooo much better even the simple 5711, Aquanaut is so "girly", but I wouldn't even get that for my other half even if I had that money and nothing to buy.

I have one last thing to add.

Most of the folk here are well-adjusted, level-minded people. One of the things that I enjoy the most about this thread is how the discussion can go from PP to Seiko without skipping a beat. It's quite cool how someone like Yatto became one of the main instigators of the thread's Orient Bambino and Seiko 5 diver infatuation, despite being an owner of watches that cost 100x more.

JDR, I'm sure that as an impressionable young man, you look up to some of the posters here. I think that's fine since most of these guys are good examples to follow. However, you're going about it the wrong way. Nobody got where they are today spending their free time bragging about wanting to buy X or Y watch for hours on end. You can call yourself a brand-*****, and claim that you only want the best, but keep in mind that people like Yatto(since you are so obsessed with him) have earned the right to be this way, and you have not even come close.

Work harder, and then you'll have something to show for it.

And IMO, I feel it's only satisfying to buy something from own earnings, then it will be special.

Unless of course it's a passed down watch from dad.

Have also saved and all just to get a AP Diver, but after getting it, I felt that it was pointless saving just to get a watch even though I really really wanted it. End up I felt that I didn't get to enjoy as much as I could like eg holidays and food.

Now a Tudor Black Bay is good enough for me and gives me the same happiness.
