Hi there, just recently got a tudor Bb and I accidently drop it on the floor. The watxh is working fine but I am worried that the mechanism inside could break or something. Shld I go to the service centre and check? And there's also a ding at the lug area. Bad start of the year

even thou its a BB and said to withstand roughness.

if you keep having that "hollow" feeling inside you... send it in and get it checked...

Is there truly such a thing as "watch boutique etiquette"?

I have a plan to buy a watch soon (probably the birthday month or around that period). Is it okay if I for now head down to a boutique or AD to try the watches that I am interested in or shortlisted, then come back weeks later to make the final decision?

Would such behaviour be thought of as time-wasting the first time round?

I do not like impulse purchases, and believe if said watch I fancy truly speaks to me, I will still think about it days or a week later. That way, it really will be the one to keep.

its a very competitive industry. i'm sure there's more designed in singapore watches around. zelos is doing well with the watch forums and gaining a lot of "street-cred"...certainly looks like the right way to go.

Different strokes for different folks, it all depends who's stroking it.

Didn't know Douche Master was from Sg! Caught my eye for a sec in the shop.

Would've gotten a Zelos if I was into divers but I'm not... Yet.

Thanks all for your reply. Feeling the pain. Btw is it advisable to go to restoration company(horolab/bonfield) and try to polish or sandblast the dented area? And also will it affect the watch after it's done? Thanks in advance.

I remember going to panerai ion to look see try all a few times over 2 months. Good service and I don't feel that they feel I am a window shopper. I bought my watches from grey except my pam was from sincere take. I was calling all the places for 112 stocks and only they had it. I left my name, went down. Look see try and paid. Service ok normal. Maybe cause it's just a 112

Most sales person wouldn't mind from my experience.

You are not alone. I feel the same way too especially for AD, but boutique I feel it less. Reason being the boutique represents the brand. Even if I buy the watch subsequently from grey or AD the company still earns. That said if I ever get a PAM 423 I plan to go Ion to try on the 372, 422, 423 and 233 then buy from grey. But while there I will buy an original vintage strap for the 305. Otherwise it's too obvious...I'm not the thickskin type

But for u, u plan to come back to that AD. If it were me my conscience wont be that pricked. I would even be honest and tell them if they give a good discount it may help in my decision, or that I need time to consider and will come back another day if I have decided.

yes would be better but how many times would u will be looking at the movements compare to the dial?

yup both using same basic movements from JLC and just some modifications by the respective brands. I prefer the AP due to only 1 crown to set all, the signature AP metal bracelet and of cos the Gerald Genta Design. If u are interested in the dual time but with a more classic gents design maybe this is for u..

Doesn't JLC have a watch that uses this movement themselves?
Tag Heuer was slated recently for licensing Seiko movement and calling it their own, interesting to see how AP and VC can evade such attention.

being a nice guy and polite about things will do.... its their job to close the sale but you don't have to feel obliged. its their job to make you comfortable to make a luxury purchase. trust me they rather have more guys in the shop than none!

It is part of their job to serve customers, regardless u eventually buy or not. From my experience, the ADs are generally polite but not proactive. They would answer to what's asked but not engage u more unless they sussed u out as a big fish (eg yatto) or u look like u definitely want to get out of the shop with a purchase. So it's important u dont feel shy n ask what u want to ask n try all that u want (since u already decided to make the trip down and step in the shop).

Do note of course that the level of attention received would be dependent on the level of customer traffic. I would avoid where i see a shop crowded with tourists.. Not likely to get much attention as tourists from certain countries belong to the category i mentioned earlier.
