$3k most probably can't get a FC moon phase. They retail at about 5. The only time it went below $3k was during last year's 50% clearance.

Which model in particular? While their designs are no doubt attractive they have their detractors mainly because of their use of modified movements instead of in-house, which has been debated to death in various forums. A simple search should be able to get you lots of info on that topic. In the end it depends how much you like the design and whether you think it's worth it.

They are just regular leather bracelets, mines from Tods...
No right or wrong way to wear them, how many, on which hand is up to you.

honestly, all these THG and cortina pte sale are for them to clear stocks before the agents take them back..... mostly those not popular and cannot sell models.

nonetheless the discounts are really good.

i got my FC moontimer for 1.5k at a website... but its been discontinued already... but its nice for the price..

IWC is a respectable brand of course with a rich history. Plenty of fans too with their small to big pilots across the years. Personally I like pilots with a bit more old fashioned history and I am in two minds about their association with Top Gun. Thought that miramar model looks delicious.

If you're considering comparable Pilot watches I'd compare it to Zenith's Pilot Big Date Special (with the comparable standard fonts)

I prefer Zenith's execution for several reasons:

1. Zenith's unique patented big date window, which is much closer to aircraft instrumentation design than IWC's 3-date version, which to me is accurate, but requires little effort to achieve.

2. Its an El Primero chrono (enough said)

3. Deeper aviation history. Zenith was one fo the first major supplier of chronological aviation instruments, before the world wars where the likes Laco, IWC got involved. Zenith held the trademark of the word "Pilot" in since the 1950's and after it expired it became a "category"name that others would use for marketing.
