Watches that grows in value are probably out of many people's reach. I think when people ask for resale value, I don't think they meant profit but how much value the watch can retain when the owner intends to sell.

Why buy a watch when u intend to sell? Its certainly not in the bottom tier in your hierarchy of needs when you have that mentality. The lost u made when u sell the watch is simply your opportunity cost.

The lost is what you pay for the period of owning the watch. Paying for the opportunity.

Btw, i'm really curious about why people ask for resale value here. Laziness? All so tech savvy, google or browse through dealer website you shld be able to gauge yourself what.

very true... like the Rolex Red Submariner selling price back 1970s was around 400-500 swiss franc... now is selling for anywhere between 15K to 25K, depending on condition and completion of the watch set.

resale for certain SG50 commemoration watches MAY go up in value in 20 to 30 years time but no one... NO ONE can confirm that...

I rather buy a watch which i personally like. wear it daily. create stories with me, those knocks and scratches... 20-30 years later... pass it down to my kids... this watch becomes something Priceless...

I would think about resale value because I want to minimize losses while reaping the maximum benefits from buying and wearing the watch. In addition, I never know when I would get sot by another wrist candy and have to sell before acquiring it.

But that shot of the MM300 is really stunning so I guess I am just going to jump the gun and get it.

But just one more question, does any owners (or former) of MM300 feel that its 20mm lug width is too small for its shape/ case?

Gene, to be honest, what's comfortable on my wrist may not be on yours. I can safely tell you that the 20mm lugs does not bother me the least bit, although the watch head is indeed heavy and my wrist do feel tired especially going a week with this watch (lazy to wind up and adjust the rest in my case).

I will suggest you go try it on your wrist yourself, see if it speaks to you. You can probably visit Seiko boutiques at Vivo, JEM or Big Time at Commonwealth. Cheers.

Thanks for all your responses but no, I am neither interested nor able to afford a Rolex. Not now anyway.

As a matter of fact, my primary concern when I first posted was whether the lug width of the mm300 was proportional to the size of the watch case. Therefore, I hoped to get some advice from the laojiaos here regarding that.

I have already scoured the forums on current prices of bnib, as well as pre-owned mm300, but as I was able to find an even better deal than the prices i see online on sgroc etc, I asked about the "worthwhile-ness" of getting it.

On the topic of worth, I simply view it as the way for me to pay the least amount of money while maximizing the enjoyment I gain from wearing it. This is particularly important especially since I am still schooling and I would like to maximize what I can enjoy with what little i have

Lastly, I mentioned resale as I never know when I will fall head over heels over one of the many beautiful timepieces popping up in this thread.
