Did a double-take. Wondered which manufacture made such a big moon phase disk.. Hahaha...

Then realise the "manufacture" is dear ol' Samsung..

The Omega steel strap looks very old fashion, same design for donkey years.

Well, I guess it depends on individual ba. Most dive watches seldom change their design (radically), which is exactly like what you said... "same design for donkey years".

Omega Seamaster with Bond bracelet has been around since donkey years... and I've seen quite a number of people wearing the older version (aluminium bezel, shorter minute hand, white date window, wave dial etc.).

The newer version comes with a ceramic bezel, longer minute hand, black date window, no more wave dial... these are actually minor changes...

If they change the bracelet design of the SMP, then it wouldn't be a "classic" already... just my opinion.

Same thing goes for other brands too...

Even the transition from 16610 to 116610LN didn't have radical changes - material from 316 to 904L, clasp design (longer clasp), square lugs, ceramic bezel, blue lume... these are all subtle changes, and only people who know, know it...

If one day, 116610LN is released in another version which is just... different... doesn't look like a "typical" Submariner Date... would it still be a "classic"?

I'm not sure... :o

u seems like someone that hate watches so much, lol

Infact I have several watches. seikos, raymond weil, longines, tag heuer aqua racer and Carrera, rolex yacht master and datejust, steinhart ocean 1, tudor BB. I say so because the Omega Seamaster steel strap looks like one of my cheapo seiko that was bought 15 years ago. :s13: :s13:

Chanced upon Frederique Constant and the moonphase slim caught my eye.

What does everyone think of getting this as my first "luxury watch"

I was eyeing a Tag Heuer Calibre 5 or a Tudor BBB

Wrist is rather small at 6.5"~

wow, you must have lots of complaints about your datejust & steinhart ocean 1(sub homage), seeing that its design didnt change much for the last 30 yrs :vijayadmin:

One man meats may be another's poison... I don't really know how to appreciate the seamaster bracelet too. But it does feel comfortable. I had it on nato most of the time though.

LOL. Mine is a vintage 1979 Datejust with Jubilee bracelets. Yep is sure dated, it looks almost the same from 1947 till now 2015.
Steinhart ocean is on a Nato strap though. ( Seamaster is also a homage of a sub, sub is a homage of a fifty fantoms) Who cares? as long as it is not a replica
Pwillie may be some seamaster fanboy, but I still dont like the omega seamaster steel braclets , the two parallel line design on the bracelets, makes it look awful. They should have just been plain.

Guess you will need to air the nato just like leather. Alternate wear if possible. Let the straps "rest".

If you are getting Tudor black bay on bracelet, the Tudor may feel too large and uncomfortable for your wrist size. My wrist is roughly 6.8 inch can barely pull off wearing my black bay black on bracelet. Getting bracelet to fit perfectly is a pain.
