I got the bracelet Blackbay about 3 years back for about SGD3k plus. :)
Later let go due to no chance to wear and dont fancy the look.
Anyway, I have a BNIB Black GMT Master II to let go. Interested leave a PM.

Dear friends,

Today I would like to do a small review of my Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller 4000
reference: 116600

I think I’ve had this watch for 6 months now. It is a very good tool watch. I kind of regret letting my 114060 go off, it felt empty my watch box without a Rolex…so my itchy wrist went hunting again…and then I saw this beauty.

Most of us know the history, it’s predecessor – the 16600 was discontinued in 2008. Rolex replaced it with the beautiful monster of the Deep Sea SeaDweller (DSSD). Unfortunately, it wasn’t my cup of tea. :D

In 2014, Rolex released this beauty. A little more balanced for folk like me who preferred something at the 40mm dial size.

- 904L steel on this is superb, coupled with the Glidelock technology and diver’s extension similar to DSSD.
- The ceramic bezel (Cerachrom)
- Date aperture at 3 o’clock. As per my previous 114060, I am not a big fan of a date function or Cyclops (sorry, just me)
- Water resistant to 4,000 feet and with helium valve on side of case (most of us are desk divers)
- Robust Rolex 3135 (used for Sub, Yacht-Master and Datejust II)
- The Dial is a matte finish
- The crystal is slightly raised from bezel, similar to a Moonwatch if you want an idea.

I find this bezel more balanced than my previous Submariner. It is quite a personal choice.

It has some weight to it. It doesn’t feel cheap. At the same token, I prefer this brushed links look compared to the middle polish links like the BLNR or Daytona. It is quite understated and doesn’t attract too much attention, like the 44mm DSSD.

So, who is the Sea Dweller 4000 for?

- Anyone who loves Rolex
- If you were to only have one watch, this is a very good candidate. It will also hold it’s value well (usually this is not one of my considerations)
- Good everyday use watch, good quality and value
- It goes well and very versatile with most attires, casual or formal. Of course personally I wouldn't were it under a suit but there's no wrong to it either

In all honesty, the overall quality will not be different if you currently own a SubC. But remember at a party, there will be a few Submariners, Daytonas, one DSSD user and potentially one SD4000 wearer (or none – it could be you) :)
