Thanks everybody. I think what you all said make alot of sense. Your advices wont be fallen on deaf ears
Seiko also looks rather good and more affordable. Probably can get a few real seikos with the $10k that i might be paying for a rollie which nobody looks up to.

depending on what material of the bezel you are going for for the Ocean 1, the Squale ATMOS is slightly more expensive than the Ocean 1 aluminium or around the same price as the ceramic version. I went to gnomon watch recently and tried both. Might wanna call in first and check for stocks if you decide to go there and try.

in my opinion, you can't really compare the above 2 with sumo. Sumo is rather a sportier watch compared to ocean 1 or atmos classic. if you prefer a slightly more casual and sporty look, go for the sumo. i am eyeing the blumo currently :s13::s13::s13:

as for comparing between squale and steinhart...in terms of looks, I abit buay gum the logo of Squale on the dial itself. so in the end I chose to get the Steinhart Ocean 1 Black instead. but with regards to workmanship and overall quality of the watch, I've heard from people that for the price you are paying, Squale probably provides a better quality of the watch overall.

just my 2 cents! :s12::s12:

Wahh, thanks for the brief intro on these watches. Like I've mentioned, I looking at Blue Sumo recently too. Hve to agree with bro randomgreen on Squale logo, reminds me of rip curl or quicksilver:s8:. Yup was at gnomon last week, manage to try both Steinhart and Squale. both I like too, LOL:s13:. Cannot buy 2 at one go.

If not because there are other options, I would have gotten Steinhart that day.

True, I'll pick the Sumo too, for being able to stand by itself rather than be noticed as a homage...

End of the day follow your heart.I might be snobbish because the other 2 are sub homage and when you group the 3 together the Sumo wins my heart for being well made, affordable, in house movement and a design that stands on its own. Not to say the Sumo is without it's flaw, I hate the winding feel and thin crown stem. Here's my 62masumo.

Nice sumas you have there.

thanks again. I would definitely consider Sumo. I am going to try blue sumo on my wrist within this week. gotta to have a connection "feel" before buying:D

Used to have both a sumo blue and squale 20 atmos. If you are looking for Rolex homage then squale definitely. Sumo is good but a little on the big side for me. Bracelet is 20 mm for sumo instead of 22mm .

haven't try on sumo on my wrist as yet. But will do it within this week. Hmmm, i ever tried on a 44mm watch which i believe still look ok.

Define cheap? Auto chrono with micro brands or grey can start ~usd$700
Put the same 7750 in a renown brand cost go up 3-4x easy, well we need to pay for brand awareness

I was thinking of a basic seiko automatic chronograph... then realized price tag starts from 2k onwards... ouch.

eventually got a blue monster for 3xx instead. might get a sumo next.

p.s.
was thinking of something around S$500-700.
to be honest i didn't know chronographs are substantially more expensive than plain automatics, so was expecting it to cost just a bit (say $50 to $100) more than automatic equivalent... how wrong i was!

i wished i never got bitten by the watch bug... a collection add up to substantial amounts in a hurry
