Thanks for the suggestion! Indeed, SARB033 looks quite similar to the Grand Seiko. So many choices around... can't decide! There are some which looks quite similar but with a lower cost, and I do not exactly understand the cost difference! So now it's more of issue of budget! Haha.

Yes I perspire a lot, and while wearing my basic Casio watch, the perspiration is quite a lot between my wrist and watch, especially on hot days.

Looks may be similar but it's the quality of the movement, construction, finish, etc that makes it worth its price.

Cost is related to quality. Does not apply to certain luxury items.

Do more research before you buy. More Haste = More Waste.

Hi guys,

I have been a long time lurker on this thread and I finally need to seek your advice.

Is it worth getting a BNIB Japan AD MM300 for around 2k?

I have been thinking really hard if it is worth it.

Btw, I have previously owned both sumo and blumo before selling them off and I really liked them. The only issue with them was that 20mm lug widths is not proportional to the size of the watch so I was wondering if it also applies to MM300 since it also has 20mm lug width.

The monobloc case design of the MM300 means that to gain access to the watch for any repair, the watch crystal and then the dial/hands must be removed first and this is usually done in Japan (as is the case for most JDM models).

Once you're ok with this, go right on ahead to enjoy the watch!

back up
where are you
you're at seiya to be the man like him
what's in your hand
back at this
he has it, a marinemaster that you love
look again
the marinemaster is now diamonds
anything is possible when you have a marinemaster

Sharing is caring, but not spoonfeeding...
If I can google to find out what is the genus family of the hibiscus flower, I dont think typing "what is a automatic watch" is that difficult.
But if he asked questions like "is SD essentially a Quartz movement", we can have a good discussion on that :D
Watchmaking course sounds too technical for me... If it's just simple watch repair or servicing (Over a weekend or 2), then I'll consider :o

Opps, I blame my over-enthusiasm for being a pedantic gasbag. :s13:

SO then... Is SD essentially a Quartz movement? Is it? Is it?!!! :D

very true... like the Rolex Red Submariner selling price back 1970s was around 400-500 swiss franc... now is selling for anywhere between 15K to 25K, depending on condition and completion of the watch set.

resale for certain SG50 commemoration watches MAY go up in value in 20 to 30 years time but no one... NO ONE can confirm that...

I rather buy a watch which i personally like. wear it daily. create stories with me, those knocks and scratches... 20-30 years later... pass it down to my kids... this watch becomes something Priceless...

/rant.mode=ON

How to have a SG when locals aren't producing to replace ourselves and we're being edged out by the wrong kinds of foreigners facilitated by a mercenary party?

SG may not even exist later. A defunct state is worthless, as is anything associated with it.

I'll have to give this a "Like" simply bcos you have the patience to explain such basic knowledge, I would have told him to google it himself, and not very nicely. :vijayadmin:

For an old uncle who have no knowledge on watches like me, simi automatic, mechanical, quartz watch, movements, all sounds very foreign to me. The "basic knowledge" is not something everyone knows. My only knowledge on watches previously was that it requires small batteries inside, no battery just change a new one. Don't even know automatic watches can don't need battery one. :o (Or did I even get this right?)

I don't need to know "is SD essentially a Quartz movement" lah. This one sounds too advanced to me. I only come in here to ask for recommendation and realised many keep mentioning automatic, and I wondered why :o

Sure, everything under the sun can Google. But a lot of things on Google are also from experts/gurus/knowledgeable people sharings also. That's why we come to forums for, for the personal touch to questions and answers. (Well, I'm not here just to ask what is automatic watch of course lah!) And this is why I love coming in to participate in the posts here (since 3 days ago). Cheers, off to watch Youtube watch reviews!

I hope you don't take it personally, I am just using your question as an example of spoonfeeding information that can be already found everywhere on the internet.
Of course, we love to share, be it wrist shots or news so that we can widen each others appreciation of watches.
asking about watch recommendations, different models etc requires personal opinions and this is what the forum is good for
knowing the difference between automatic & quartz does not, wikipedia can easily help…imagine the 1001th user to ask the same question
but i do not doubt TT will still make the effort to provide information in a more interesting & easier to understand way :D

My last 2 cents...
if someone comes into this forum and ask "Hey, i'm new to watches, can you help me?" guess what the standard answer would be? ==>> google
if you bother to do some research before jumping into the forum to ask, it will help in getting the answers you want, and make the discussions more engaging

My experience is that, long threads like these always will have less-knowledgeable folks coming in to ask "basic" questions. So really must thank enthusiastic folks like TeenTitans01 who won't hesitate to give lots of information and suggestions.

For us, we can say more than just "google", by giving some keywords to search, or sites to visit. E.g. I was recommended to go Lazada. Some peeps mention Creation Watches, Skywatches, K2 tanjong katong complex, Bencoolen, etc... (now I have lots of keywords to work on!)

Maybe for my case, can just say go Youtube learn about automatic watch.

Cheers! Anyway, this video is very good!
