Wow read quite a few anti-IWC sentiments, I had the same thoughts as you guys a few years back but I changed my mind earlier this year and fell in love with IWC watches. But anyways I respect everyone's preferences.
I'm also into Maurice Lacroix watches, there is this masterpiece gravity sincere edition with the dark blue dial. Placed a deposit to hold the watch while I ponder over it. Anyone has it and care to share your comments on the watch?
Oh well, I guess they don't understand IWC or brands alike. What they see are just over-priced modified ebauche watches. Its easy to come up with those so-called evaluation points, like history, in-house movements, resale value etc. Few can appreciate the very fact that companies that strive to invest in and innovate complicatons, such as perpetual calender, minute repeater, tourbillion etc, are actually serious and passionate watch makers and IWC is one of them. Not saying brands like Rolex, Omega or Panerai are not passionate but that to me, if you are true watch aficionado and not some wannabe, is something to consider as well. And as much as production numbers don't mean anything to many, one reason behind why some brands have extremely high numbers is precisely because they leverage watch movements (in-house/modified/standard) largely, which are easily incorporated into their auotmated production line. High production numbers also mean the production costs are lower.
So, exclusivity for the sake of exclusivity, maybe not.
