Fully agree. Buy something which makes your missus happy... otherwise she will still keep eyeing that santos

best if it can be about the watch AND the wife. no compromise. otherwise keep on searching.

Before the anti-DW comments come in, I suggest you take a look at some Orient (Bambinos) and other Seiko models with entry level automatic movements, maybe on Skywatches or Creationwatches. Much more value for the couple of hundred dollars you'll be paying for a DW. My 2 cents. :o

Hey gx,

I think, if it ain't broke. Don't fix it.. At the end of the day, the local service center would probably not match the kind of precision in terms of fixing back the components after servicing as compared to the factory. So.. yeah. :)

If you want DW just buy a fake 10$ one. seriously not worth their full retail price (i suggest you google the article about how DW makes money with cheap watches)

Since you don't know what you like just see the popular models for each brand lor.

Seiko:
SKX007 / 009
Seiko 5 lineup (most affordable quality automatic watches under 100$)
Alternatively (Click here) to sort seiko watches by type and popularity

Orient:
Bambino V1/2/3
Mako / Ray
Flight

Citizen:
Nighthawk
Promaster Marine

I suggest starting with Japanese brands first since they really are the best bang for buck for a first watch :)
