Envy u. So how's the phone?

Err... you are asking the wrong person. :)

Bought it for my father-in-law. Will bring it over to him when I fly back to Thailand. Perfect phone for him because in Thailand, the 3G is not perfect, so don't even think about 4G!

I am not a phone fanatic because I only use my BB Z10 (now you know that I am serious when I said that I am not into phones :)) for calls and its messaging tools, not for games at all. :D

UPS Singapore is dishonest. My previous delivery by UPS went untraceable after scheduled delivery date, and after finally found and delivered, they update their delivery date to 3 days before the scheduled date.

I avoid any purchase if their last leg of delivery is by UPS now.

from what I've been reading, it is believed that once you insert your SD card, the phone will detect it and your stuff will go to the SD card by default.
your apps will forever remain in your phone though.. lol

For your qns 1, try the steps as mention below:

First connect your phone to your computer via data cable, pull down the notification panel from the top of the phone, click “USB connected”, and then click "Turn on USB storage”.

For qns 2: have you insert the sd card? Once you insert the sd card, all your photos will save to sd card by default.:)

Getting android phones to work with winxp through mtp is a pain.. so you can either try upgrading to win 7 or later or try using the pre ICS usb connection mode:

Download QCustomShortcut!
It's available onto PlayStore.

Install-it, and open-it...

Choose a 'Shortcut Name' as : USB Connection
For 'Package', choose : com.android.settings
For 'Class', choose : com.android.settings.UsbSettings

Click on button [ Create Shortcut ] (this place shortcut onto MIUI desktop).

To test the shortcut, connect your phone at the computer, by USB, and click on the shortcut ... this launch 'USB computer connexion' to manage few USB modes.

OK thanks.

yeah after I inserted the SD card, the photos automatically get saved in the SD card. theres no options for you to choose whether to save in phone or SD card, unlike my Sony.

I gave up last night after multiple attempts to connect my phone to my WinXP.

will try again later.

Thanks all.

I got the set last week for when I signed a 2 yr plan with Starhub, which came with some free accessories, like SP, SIM card adaptors, earphones, 16GB SD card, 2600mah Powerbank and flip case. everything was free, including the phone. I was told that the free accessory pack OOS liao.

Yes, I also had the same problem of connecting my Redmi to my Windows XP in March after I got my Redmi from the 13 March Sale.

All the solutions suggested by other people do not work because they are not using Windows XP and do not know what the problem actually is.

I managed to solve this problem after spending 2 full days searching for a solution last month.

Found the solution here in page 2 of this thread : USB Connection Mode - Bugs - MIUI Official Community

The solution is what denilson posted in this thead earlier in reply to you (re-quoted at the end of this post for you). Use QCustomshortcut and create a short cut icon with the necessary commands (as shown in the first 2 black pictures below) :

Shortcut Name : USB Connection (or any name you like. The picture shows that the person has filled it up as "USB Connexion" )
For 'Package', fill in : com.android.settings
For 'Class', fill in : com.android.settings.UsbSettings

Press "create short cut".

A new icon with the name you have put earlier as Shortcut Name will appear on your phone desktop (As shown in the 3rd picture below, blue background desktop, the person has created a new short cut icon "USB Connexion" as explained earlier).

Connect your Redmi to your computer Windows XP using USB cable and then click onto the custom icon you have created above and the USB connection menu will appear (last picture below). You then touch "USB storage" to select it for the Redmi to be seen as a mass storage device on your Windows XP computer :

Bro, we just try to help, although it does not solve the problem.

And thank you because I learn something new. :)
