previously i can change the telco names to other names, somehow i can't find it anymore.

anyway, i followed his steps and i can select custom ringtones.

It seems that you can't set a 3rd party browser as the default one (Tried next browser) as everytime I click a link from next browser the default one opens it :(

Damn irritating.. and when I disable the default browser setting from the stock browser, it reactivates by itself..

Settings > Apps > Small icon at the bottom saying "Default app settings" > Browser > Change to Chrome or whatever.

hope this helps. :s13:

Redmi cranky when connected to PC

Have any one noticed or experience, Redmi, when connected to PC (for backup or copy music), becomes cranky...like touch unresponsive, or open random application, etc..?

you are really patient with all these people.

i think most questions people ask are due to LAZINESS, they are smart i believe.

I am a very impatient charcter by nature. Many of these ridiculous questions I seriously never wanted to reply at first glance. Too many of these dumbass which are carrying phones smarter than themselves and they have little shame which keeps them stupid for too long. They can't be bothered to explore, can't be bothered to read, can't even be bothered to ask or phrase their damn questions properly or having a clue as to how to ask a question which will yield them the answer they desire. Yet many of these dumbasses expect a decent response?

FFS those people with an unintelligent question, go to xiaomi website support page and click live chat. They probably will give you the quality of support that matches the quality of your questions. They won't insult you u unlike myself, that's called customer service - getting paid by you for not addressing your concerns completely but courteously nonetheless. Likewise when I retort with something that might appear insulting, that's because it was intentional. It relates exactly what I think of the question and my regret for spending my thankless moments trying to help idiots who never deserved it.

This is in not addressing to you Salapi, but instead to the you know who's out there whose sole purpose in life is to waste others time.

lol. totally agree.

when i was in secondary school while i was flashing my samsung galaxy spica through samdroid.

my brother in primary 3 learnt them while watching behind me trying out all sorts of things. i was flashing a samsung device and he learn to flash custom roms on his sony x8, learning to write his own codes in primary 5. :s22: now i had to ask him on android phones after being out of touch from NS.

even kids can explore and learn, i dunno why young people in 20s and 30s can't.

but okay la, forum is like that one, sometimes i see no people answer them, i will share what i know. :s8:

I agree with banana too. Forum is a place where information is readily available, but sometimes require some search strategy. However there will always be people who refuse to put in the effort to search, yet sinply enjoy the convenience of opening a new thread and ask the crowd. Hopefully someone can satisfy their question instantly.

It is kind of ironic when someone who carries a smart phone and yet do not know the basic features. I am not referring to rooting and other expert features, but these people are asking simple commands to achieve a setting.

Therefore all of us should keep a lookout of these recalcitrant users who keeps asking questions but no reply to all threads, kind of a leech I feel.

To be fair I had a bit of trouble with this also. And I am using a Nexus 4 with CFW.

Trouble because the custom ringtone only looks into one specific folder. If you put your MP3 elsewhere it won't be able to detect

i think this feature is done purposely by Google? Because if you have like 10000 mp3, then your whole list of ringtones available for you to choose how? :s22: (this is my understanding)

you can change so that it searches another folder too i believe. i think i done that in froyo before, forgot liao.

but since you know you can find it in specific folder which is "Ringtones" or "Notifications", then you got your answer already right? Who will go put in "Photos" or "WhatsApp" right?

This isn't even a problem. There is alot of apps in the app store that allows you to create a ringtone and select a ringtone.

Hope that answers your question.

Normally how many days does shipping by xiaomi take?

Takes 3-5 working days. In real life, probably 3-6 working and non-working days(including Sat and Sun, there is delivery too! Miss my Redmi delivery last Sunday and had to wait till this Tues to get it..)

may i know how to set a ringtone to a single contact ??

Go into your contacts.
Tap the contact you wanna set ringtone.

Inside that contact, look at bottom last option for "Default ringtone".

Go in and select alternative ringtone you want to set -> Tap "OK" at top right hand corner of your screen.

Settings>Storage>Internal Storage
Report back the AVAILABLE reading on this part.

The Phone Storage (which is the 3rd component) is NOT where apps will be installed. If Internal Storage is full, then you're done with installing more apps even if Phone Storage reads sufficient space.

Seach "root checker" and download any you fancy to confirm your root status. Regardless whether rooted or not, nothing should prevent the installation of System App Remover when you have sufficient space for it.

Earlier you said "But when i try to install more apps it still says insufficient memory even though i had a 32gB SD card."

Now you're saying "But now the problem is i cannot install the System Apps Remover because it keep saying insufficient memory even my free mem is about 500 mb. But i can install other apps."

So which is it, can you FURTHER install other apps or not? Kindly show some consistency. If you can't install System App Remover nor any other apps from here, and your INTERNAL STORAGE is about full, logic dictates that you ought to just delete some apps for now to free sufficient space for System App Remover, then move apps to SD, before you continue loading more.

--------------

Thank you very much for your kind patience and clear guidance
Sorry for all the confusion i had caused you.
Now i can install and move apps to the SD Card using the System Apps Remover.

I run Root Checker and it says my "device has root access", so i presume everything is ok.
Thanks again and may good luck follow you always for your kind deed.
Have a nice day.

No. You don't understand. The native ringtone folder does not work. The folder that MIUI looks at is hidden within the MIUI main folder. Shifting files around is something most people don't expect to do and may be confused by.

It took me about five minutes and some googling to figure out. It was my moms phone anyway so I just did the bare minimum to get it going. It was definitely annoying though.
