explorer is like windows explorer, the function is to see your files you send to your phone/sd card

cleanup in explorer is to delete those files that are temporary files like those thumbnails files created by app to load image faster (just like thumbnails.db in windows). It is safe to do cleanup, pressing it then it will display how much space you will save if you cleanup and you can see what kind of files it will delete. the only problems with clean up is that next time you open app that shows lots of image, it will load a bit slower since it will re-generate thumbnails for those files.

Y dun you just use the clean app that comes with the phone to do the cleaning.

Under security app

any one use the dual sim feature? very interested for its dual sim function.

i plan to use it this way:

1st 3G sim with the 100MB bundle at $27 superlite plan with singtel with number 9xxx
2nd 3G sim with unlimited data. (unlimited because i don't pay for it).

can i still run whatsapp and other number-tied apps on 9xxx number, but with the actual data flow of the 2nd Sim? is that possible? does the dual-sim work this way? thanks!

normal, alot of phones do that to prevent overcharging

extra info: can also be the charging circuit doing a top up charge or balancing of the cells

Yes, you can just set your Data connection to only your 2nd Sim.

Then all the 3G data flow (be it in Whatsapp, LINE, Skype, browser, youtube etc.) will be through your 2nd Sim unlimited data.

I used my Redmi this way for 10 days :

Slot 1 : Sim with Mobile Data Plan 500MB/month free with my recent sign up of Fibre Optics broadband (no voice and no sms capability but has a phone number starting with 9 too).

Slot 2 : Sim with normal Mobile plan (Voice and SMS) number 9xxx which I use to register for my Whatsapp and LINE.

I set my Data connection only to my Sim 1 (i.e. the Sim with mobile data 500MB/month). (There is an option in the setting of which Sim you want the default data connection to be).

When I double checkd on my data usage for the 2 sim on Singtel website, it showed zero MB for the phone number of my Sim 2 (voice plan) and apparently all the data flowed through the phone number of my Sim 1 (mobile data).

FYI,
yesterday my redmi suddenly died, less than 2 weeks usage.
changed new battery , changed charger and still nothing works, totally no lights indications
Brought it to service centre , they changed the motherboard , an hour job and got my redmi back......cheers :)

I think it is ok for things to fail, what is impt is the service provided when things do fail, looks like xiaomi's service is quite ok

hmmm.. correct me if im wrong...

SIM 1 is with 3G, SIM 2 is only 2G. So even if you have 2x 3G SIM, only SIM 1 will have data...

That is currently how i configure for my wife.
SIM 1: my multi-sim card, tapping on my 12GB/mth plan
SIM 2: prepaid singtel card

More likely it's an app that's syncing constantly. Was using a G2 when the drain was very fast, turned out to be an app with was syncing every 10 seconds!

you bought locally right? If yes, best to send to service center. Mine first day cannot on liaoz and sent there. Lucky still have warranty lah. Any phones also have faiure... had an expensive S phone before within 1 week died completely because motherboard kaput.... so such thing can happen on any phones irregardless brands and prices, depends on luck.

redmi screen cracked

dropped it on tarmac. Would it be cheaper to get a screen replacement at service centre or purchase another redmi?

Read someone changed at $100 plus. Why dont you get a wrote from their customer service before you decide?
