More likely it's an app that's syncing constantly. Was using a G2 when the drain was very fast, turned out to be an app with was syncing every 10 seconds!

Thanks. Any app to recommend that I can dl to check which app is crazily running or sync? Every 10 sec is madness. Thks

Not aware of any. Check what apps you've downloaded recently. Can look at settings > battery > battery use to see what's using up the battery.

Yes, you can just set your Data connection to only your 2nd Sim.

Then all the 3G data flow (be it in Whatsapp, LINE, Skype, browser, youtube etc.) will be through your 2nd Sim unlimited data.

I used my Redmi this way for 10 days :

Slot 1 : Sim with Mobile Data Plan 500MB/month free with my recent sign up of Fibre Optics broadband (no voice and no sms capability but has a phone number starting with 9 too).

Slot 2 : Sim with normal Mobile plan (Voice and SMS) number 9xxx which I use to register for my Whatsapp and LINE.

I set my Data connection only to my Sim 1 (i.e. the Sim with mobile data 500MB/month). (There is an option in the setting of which Sim you want the default data connection to be).

When I double checkd on my data usage for the 2 sim on Singtel website, it showed zero MB for the phone number of my Sim 2 (voice plan) and apparently all the data flowed through the phone number of my Sim 1 (mobile data).

Thanks a lot. Very helpful indeed.

Check out Xiaomi Facebook page. Got usd$60 refund for this who bought last week.

Outstanding service recovery by Xiaomi although the fault lies with PayPal. Well done!

any one use the dual sim feature? very interested for its dual sim function.

i plan to use it this way:

1st 3G sim with the 100MB bundle at $27 superlite plan with singtel with number 9xxx
2nd 3G sim with unlimited data. (unlimited because i don't pay for it).

can i still run whatsapp and other number-tied apps on 9xxx number, but with the actual data flow of the 2nd Sim? is that possible? does the dual-sim work this way? thanks!

It works the way BHills does it, but not the way warr intends to use it.
2nd slot is 2G only. So the data SIM has to be in Slot 1.
Put the SIM for the superlite plan into Slot 2 and the data SIM into slot 1.

put the unlimited data sim into slot 1 and set that as the data connection.

put the 100mb bundle sim into slot 2 and set that as the default voice line.

that's it. its that easy

Thanks buddy, that explains why my free 1GB mobile broadband was extremely slow at 3 - 5kbps. I inserted in to SIM slot 2 and designated it for data connection while my Starhub voice only SIM was inserted into slot 1. I have swapped them and the problem is gone.

However, the interface on the phone is kind of confusing as it allows you to choose which SIM slot for data connection so it gives the impression that you can designate either slot for data connection, not just slot 1. Maybe my understanding is wrong, pls correct me if so.

This is amazing, i would be happy with just free red back cover. Didn't know that they took it to another level.

Actually either sim slots can be set for data connection and it's just the speed difference between 3G (slot 1) and 2G (slot 2).

In the Redmi, although slot 1 is labeled 3G while slot 2 is labeled 2G, data connection can still be set to either slot or, if I remember correctly, even both. (I have given my Redmi to my mum but I know data connection definitely can be set to either of the 2 slots).

If data connection is set to slot 2 (2G), then data transfer will be slower and some features are not available :

Difference between 2G and 3G Technology | 2G vs 3G Technology

Difference between 2G and 3G Technology
· Cost: The license fee to be paid for 3G network is much higher as compared to 2G networks. The network construction and maintenance of 3G is much costlier than 2G networks. Also from the customers point of view the expenditure for 3G network will be excessively high if they make use of the various applications of 3G.

· Data Transmission: The main difference between 2G and 3G networks is seen by the mobile users who download data and browse the Internet on the mobile phones. They find much faster download speeds, faster access to the data and applications in 3G networks as compared to 2G networks. 2G networks are less compatible with the functions of smart phone. The speed of data transmission in 2G network is less than 50,000 bits per sec while in 3G it can be more than 4 million bits per sec.

· Function: The main function of 2G technology is the transmission of information via voice signals while that of 3G technologies is data transfer via video conferencing, MMS etc.

· Features: The features like mobile TV, video transfers and GPS systems are the additional features of 3G technology that are not available with 2G technologies.

· Frequencies: 2G technology uses a broad range of frequencies in both upper and lower bands, under which the transmission depends on conditions such as weather. A drawback of 3G is that it is simply not available in certain regions.

· Implication: 3G technology offers a high level of security as compared to 2G technology because 3G networks permit validation measures when communicating with other devices.

· Making Calls: Calls can be made easily on both 2G and 3G networks with no real noticeable differences except that in 3G network video calls can also be made. The transmission of text messages and photos is available in both the networks but 2G networks have data limit and the speed of the data transmission is also very slow as compared to 3G.

· Speed: The downloading and uploading speeds available in 2G technologies are up to 236 Kbps. While in 3G technology the downloading and uploading speeds are up to 21 Mbps and 5.7 Mbps respectively.

I think the US$60 refund is only for those who made multiple payments for the same order?
