unfortunately singapore is only the "test" market to them, small market. maybe only a small city in china. they still have so many bigger ones like malaysia, hongkong, taiwan etc etc...

it's just that singapore consist of a more accurate representation of the technology market i guess.

Just don't understand. Singapore is indeed small market, maybe demands are about say 200k. Don't see why it cannot catered to this demand for preorder.

"15k sets sold out in 15mins!" sounds more impressive compared to "200k sets sold in 15 days!"

I fully agree that Xiaomi's sales tactics are horrible. They could have done what Apple does with their Apple Store. Just keep on taking orders and take 3-4 weeks to produce and deliver.

I saw that someone already asked, however didn't see a reply.

Does the Xiaomi allow encryption of microsd card?

Flashing ROM?

Hi guys,

I did a search but to no avail. I bought a Redmi 1S from China back home and it only works in EDGE or 2.5G. I can't get 3G and found out that it is a TD-SCDMA model. Will flashing a WCDMA Rom or Singapore Redmi 1 ROM helps?

Thanks in advance!

it depends on hardware, firmware might not help it.

Just read from Xiaomi Singapore Facebook:

Today's sales has been postponed to tomorrow (28/05/2014), 12pm.

Please take note!

Wah sian. Tot there's only one version. Does flashing the WCDMA ROM be useful? Dunno if any tried that.

You will most likely brick your phone. Try it only if you want your Redmi to be a paperweight.

Let this be a lesson for you.
