Hi guys

do u think it is possible to connect a media player
to the nas and then connect the media player
to a tv for playing stored shows on the tv?

If it is possible, what kinds of mediaplayer should

Yes, install Twonkymedia module on the NAS.
Ensure the media player is DLNA certified.

As for the media player, there are 2 camps : Sigma and Realtek. Google which one that you prefer.

Then, if you do not hot any network point around you may consider the Aztech 200mbps AV homeplug.

and i also realised my problem with the 3 times password input: my user ID had a capital but i did not cap it when i connected the drive. but somehow, win7 was smart enough to force it thru (?) and i can connect to the folders after 3 tries.

weap0nx: do let us know if a ram upgrade works (or improves performance). Very tempted. haha... I saw the internals on another site previously (google n0503), although they didnt tear out the heatsinks to reveal the cpu / bridges. but good job!

My NAS operates ard 48 degrees celsius in a non air-con room. I place it above my Lexa S.
If i turn on air-conditioning, it drops a few degrees but that's about it.

My friend also using this in a non air cond environment. ~48C. Seems normal.

I jumped at it the moment I found out it was a complete PC motherboard to see if there is any potential for simple hardware modifications.
My temps are still very high, 52 idle with BT running on the background only. Both heatsinks are sitting tightly on the cores now that i removed the thermal strip and sponge protective shim, it's dangerous for the core but best way to ensure proper contact. Swapped out with Arctic Cooling MX-3. Used to have higher almost 56 degree idle.

Using Noctua NF-B9 exhaust fan now.

Frankly I don't care if the CPU is at 52, it sounds ok to me, I'm more worried the drives are always so hot to touch. I'm thinking about the front panel and rear exhaust now, might mod something when i have time.

this is ok for a all day running NAS,i recommend you have to put it in air conditioned room

I'm running 4100pro at home. Before and after firmware update, temp no channge, 40 to 41. Hmmms

I am not joking, the temp is now 50. I can't say that the firmware is the cause, but the fact is the firmware upgrade was the only change I made to the system.

BTW, I read from the thecus forum that N4100PRO users get an improve in performance after a memory upgrade to 1GB.

Anyone has upgraded and where can I get the upgrade?
