Hi, I am currently using a NAS, the 3200XXX.

Can I transfer my Internal hard disk to a DAS without anything happening to the data inside? Thinking of selling my NAS, underultised.

Just an update: I upgraded the firmware to 5.02.02
Took abt 10 mins(all services shutdown). System seems stable. Also installed hisshd but have yet to try it out.

I have a problem with my 4100pro, i have 4x1tb in raid10. I'm not using the lastest FW. irrc, but on v5.

On exporting some files on lightroom into my nas. the drive got disconnected.
It basically stopped replying pings.

I plug out the mains, as s shutdown proved to be useless.
On restart, i booted fine. but i was unable to ping it nor go to it's admin page.
I restarted several more times. still the same problem.

I unplugged the 3disc bay and reboot. It noted that i had a raid degration. but continued to boot. I subsequently hot plug in the 3rd drive.

I rebooted it again, as it was still not responding to anything. Now it's stuck at "Start Service"

Anyone encountered this problem? Is it currently verifying the raid. i do see lights blinking on the last two bays,
Is there anyway i can recover this on another PC?

Read the new hdd compatibility list and saw that 3Tbs are accepted in the n0503...

Is the raid10 setup on the n4100pro a standard that allows me to recover it from a linux box?

thecus managed to remotely repair my drive to be degraded. Now at least i can copy out the information, flash firmware and rebuild the raid

avoid v5.02.02 as there is a bug where u cant use the share folder any more..

which model of NAS? there's a beta 5.03 released for a temp fix.

the 5.02.02 works fine on my N0503.
I've also upgraded the ram to 2Gb DDR2 533MHz Kingston. NAS is more responsive now.

You DIY the upgrade of ram to 2GB? Is it easy to change the ram?

very easy to change. I think if you go back to the start of this thread, there's another bro here who posted pics. You just have to take out the hdds, and unscrew 4 + 8 screws at the back and you'll be able to slide out the whole unit. Take care that there are 2 cables at the front of the unit that you have to disconnect.

- Install and start HiSSH module on your Thecus NAS. Either automatic or manual installation can be used.
- Start a SSH client, such as PuTTY
- Enter the NAS IP address. (Tip: if you enter “http://” or anything else with the address, it won’t work.)
- Credentials need to be entered. You may notice that while typing the password, nothing is displayed; not even the usual “*”. Do not be alarmed, this is for security purposes. (Tip: don’t forget everything is case-sensitive.)
- You are now connected to the NAS! You can now use most of the known shell commands to browse in your NAS, stop a service, move folders, etc. Just keep in mind: safety first!

this does not upgrade your NAS. It only enables SSH which allows you to SSH into your NAS. I've tried this module but prefer the one written by Fajo.

Thecus announced support 4TB Seagate HDD for XXX series Atom models and soon will support with N3200XXX and N0503, don't know N4100EVO or N2200EVO could run 4TB or not ?
