whether min 15% is better is very subjective. there is simply no evident and review online is very mix. min 15% have been out in the market for very long. i spare the details here on why min 15% might not be better. and what make you think it suppose to be better then min 5% 3times per day?
other then not cheap there is another major problem. min does nothing to the fundamental process of MPB. therefore, the damage is on going. min just mainly off-set your hairloss. something like a biological toppik. and i like to say first, no!!! azelaic acid does jazz for blocking DHT before we get into it.
so sadly, even if min 15% is way better then standard min 5% if that is even true, when the damage from DHT caught up, all you min 15% gain will be gone.
First of all, there's no solution in the market that eliminates MPB or any form of hairloss.
If it's such a solution you are looking for, i'm afraid there's nothing you can resort to.
What that can be possible, is reduce the process or if it's possible, offer some regrowth.
In the market now, there's only 2 solutions that had been proven to work.
1 is finesteride which has a long list of unpleasant and highly possible permanant damage.
The other is minoxide.
As mentioned in many pages earlier, i am highly against using finesteride since it can cause serious permanent impotency.
Though not as quick to seeing any effects by not altering the body in any bold way, i'm using a combined approach of using good shampoo + conditioner + tonics which works as well or even better.
Which was highly recommended by a plastic surgeon specialised in hair transplant.
What i'm using is:
Revita Shampoo from DS labs
Nioxin's conditioner
Rogaine Foam 5%
To be honest, it was good enough to halt the process and slowly put it in control.
I was not exactly sure which was the ingredient that works best.
Minoxidil's 15% actually not suppose to be sold over the counter, i got it from my clinic in UK before returning for CNY.
Why i swapped over to Minoxidil's 15% and decide not to turn back?
i) Better and faster results
It took me 3 months for 5% to see results and after that nothin much grew back anymore.
It took me 20+ days for 15% to see results, and it grew beyond what the 5% could.
Minoxidil is suppose to be for the crown to curb MPB. The reason why i'm astonished, is because my front hairline actually grew back which the foam could not. And the ones that came out, are thick like my eyebrown. I can't see the top area, but my wife said the "hole" not so visible"
Beside my eye brown those fine hair, i think it's in contact with the chemical, even those fine "hair" are turning darker and thicker as well. So i'm very sure it works much better than the rogaine foam i used to use.
ii) Easier to apply.
The dropper can help you apply straight to the scalp. And it's absorbed quickly. Minoxidil due to it's alcohol content, is actually bad for the hair. It will dry your hair badly and damage it.
If you are using Rogaine's foam, it will burst out and spread out without control. Most likely it will hit your hair more than your scalp which is pretty lame.
iii) Styling
The foam has a sticky effect on your hair. First of all because it's sticky, your hair will clump together and you will look more bald like an idiot if you get what i mean.
If you are using any other styling products like wax and such, the sticky minoxidil will make it hard to style it properly. In fact it's so stiff i don't even need to use other wax. lol
iv) Pricing
Ironically though it's much more expensive per bottle, but it works out to be almost the same for usage per month.
Rogaine 5% foam 60ml you have to apply twice a day.
Minoxidil 15% 60ml only once per day.
So meaning if the rogaine can last you for a month, the 15% can last you two months.
But honestly, the rogaine because it's hard to apply, can only last me half a month a bottle.
If we break down the prices
Rogaine foam 5%
3 bottles for 3 month's use at US$44
Meaning 1 month cost you US$14.67
Minoxidil 15
1 bottle for 2 month's use at US$35.72
Meaning 1 month cost you US$17.86
Marking a difference of US$3.20.
A little more, but alot more effective as well.
Most importantly, SAVED ME ALOT OF TIME and time to me is money.
If you are young, it's better to regrow your hair and keep your follicles alive as early as long as possible. Cause if it's dead for few years, they will never be able to revive anymore no matter what possible better drugs they can come out with.
My routine everday.
Though i seems to use alot of things, actually. It doesn't really alter my life style much.
At night, i shampoo to clean away my hair wax.
I leave the shampoo in scalp for a while.
Then i use Nioxin conditioner, it's the only conditioner that i know that works for the scalp and should be directly applied to it. It's said to preserve the scalp.
After all done, i apply minoxidil for the night.
In the morning, i lightly shampoo then wax my hair to work again.
Hope this approaches can shed some new light to some of you guys.
I'm 30+ btw.
My baldness started when i was 18.
So you can imagine how bad it was but lucky i stopped it from getting worst.
Now i'm normally said to be looking like a mid 20s guy.
I had never taken finesteride.
If i add it to my routine, i think i will look like a young teenager
